First of all I just want to say that I own a Power G5 and a Pentium 4 , the G5 has MAC OS X installed on , and the P4 has Windows XP .
As I was browsing through WinCustomize pages , I noticed that 70% of icons , themes , wallpapers and animations are realted ( and imitations) of MAC OS X themes . My question is why not author buy an iMAC since they keep on imitating Panther and other Apple Operating Systems ? What need to see (and few brilliant authors do it) is some noce originals idea that make us feel like our desktop is unique not some MAC OS X copy cat .

There's been a long drawn out debate over the point of OS ports far longer than I have been around the community. Personally, I agree with you. what is the point? there isn't one. Except, that each person who skins has a right to make their work look how they want to. most people here skin for themselves and are just nice enough to upload thier creations for other people to enjoy as well. So, I guess you have to ask each individual port author why not just get the other OS.

It only really gets aggravating when a new version of windows is released. First you have people speculating on how they think the OS will look and uploading those versions before the OS is released. That part isn't really so bad cause usually people are pretty far off anyway, so you got some original work afterall there. Then, the few months _after_ an OS is released you get a port a day sometimes. And of course, 99% of those look the same.

I don't particularly like OS ports. The involve little skill and I have no time for someone essentially using premade graphics, but I can see why people would want to use them. Why pay a few hundred dollars for a Mac when 50 will get you the looks?

Maybe one should ask the reverse question. Why don't Mac theme sites offer more Windows related content? Maybe the Windows community is a bit more open minded.

OS 'Porting' was old when Adam was a pup.  It's all about altering an existing GUI to be different.  If that 'different' already exists as an alternate operating system then so be it.  BeOS, Linux, Amiga, OS2, Mac, and more obscure GUI-based OS's have all been emulated at one time or another.

What REALLY got strange was when various Alternate shell users [Litestep] actually went out of their way to emulate the shell they were replacing.....an Explorer theme for Litestep.....no THAT was the weird bit...aka why bother?

But, as with all skinning/customizing...it's because you CAN....

The only time it gets silly in a cumulative sense is when every man and his dog does his OWN interpretation of a 'port' and we end up with a squillion versions of 'Longhorn'....

Why dont you enlight us with some of this work you speak of? as far as the 'copy' look of Mac for PCs, what do you really care about what other people want on their PC'c desktop? Are you an official spoke person for Apple Co.?

There should be a sign on WC front page that reads 'Mac users click here -> WWWMac.Com'

it is really weak as an opinion dear Chris . You will end up being exiled if you keep doing what you are doing . So admit that windows XP is better than your OSX .
( by the way , dont even think that i beleived your crap about you having a g5 ok? so quit it)

Actually Sleeping Dragon i think it's probably more of a language issue and less an illiteracy issue.
