16 Colors in Bootskins?

Saturday, November 27, 2004 by testt | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hi,
I'm learning to create Bootskins, cause I find them very cool
In the Tutorial @ joeuser.com I read there are only 16 colors I can use...
Its very difficult to make a good looking Skin with the 16 colors.
But I looked at other skins and they are made with other 16 colors as I can do.
You know, my question is: How can I change the 16 colors to use?
I wanna do a skin with many greys, so I need many greys, but no yellow, green etc.
Thanks a lot!
PS: I'm using Photoshop.

It is always best to create the image in true colors and then change it to 16 colors. Since you will only be using shdes of grays, the image should look better when turned to 16 colors.
You can also make the image in color and then turn it to grayscale before turning it into 16 colors.
All of these options are on the toolbar Image\Mode menu.

So I think what I did wrong was using the SkinStudio as explained in the Tut.
