Can some1 beside jafo go over my uploads?

Monday, November 22, 2004 by IMAGEOD | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

i would prefer from now on some1 besides jafo goes over my work. He comes up with irrelevant reasons to not accept my themes because he is lazy and does not want to do work. (i understand the reason Di Plasma was not accepted and i fixed it) then again sometimes he doesnt have a reason "Dear lMG0D5552666,

Thank you for your recent upload of your Patrick for CursorXP." yet it is still not in my library. Just thought i would let the other staff no that the person they are working with doesnt do his job, or is holding some sort of grudge against me because i just had 7 downloads declined. Some of them had a stupid reason, and some of them had no reason at all. I would like to know why i need permission to submit a spongebob cursorxp theme, when i just saw some1 make a copy and pasted one that wasnt even of thier work! This is all my work, yet i need permission. Also he put words in my mouth cause i said "this is most definitly the worst of my spongebob themes." he managed to put the words in my mouth that i wasnt happy with the theme , i was happy with the theme, it was just my least favorite of my spongebob themes...........................................
...............................Anyway can some1 besides jafo go over my work.

does "some1" = "someone" and "no" = "know"? and yes, someone other than Jafo can moderate your uploads but it wouldn't do any good. a few words of wisdom for you, do not call out a moderator on the message board in the future. it definitely is of negative value to do so. if you have a personal issue with a mod or other staff member, deal with via email and not publicly.

All uploads are viewed by most of the moderators....it's not necessarily Jafo who is looking at/rating your stuff. It tends to be a concensus of several of us. Subject closed.

And Im sure they deserved it.
The moderators here are very 'fair' in the way the handle submissions.

Everyone gets their work rejected at one time or another when that does happen, think of it as a challenge to improve or do better.
Shoot for the maximum level of quality you can get in your uploads, not the minimum that will get them accepted...
Do the best possible work you can do, not what you think is simply 'good enough.' Take pride in your work, and dont whine when the moderators decide that you need to work a little harder.

How about we do this Pop Idol style, and have the public vote on which of your uploads get to stay?
Actually, scratch that, you'd probably run up a huge bill voting for yourself.
Don't undermine the work any of the admins do here again, we don't take kindly to it.
Technically we could kick you right off the site, since you just made a personal attack against another member, who happens to be an admin too.
Oooh, now there's something the public should vote on......

Jafo doesn't moderate your work unilaterally. He speaks with a consensus. I could send you the same email if it would make you feel better.

"He comes up with irrelevant reasons to not accept my themes because he is lazy and does not want to do work."

Btw, might I add that it actually takes more work to remove a skin and type the rejection mail, than to click 1 button to approve it?
You owe jafo an apology.

Jafo's reasons may seem 'irrelevant' to you, but knowing Jafo, he has very good reasons to reject certain submissions reasons likely to be echoed by the other admins.

You might consider taking his suggestions to heart. If you do, you may get something approved.

Citizen lMG0D5552666 ....one unfortunate side-effect of being on the opposite side of the world to the majority of other site admins is it is often up to me [being last] to initiate the email 'rejection'.

It does not mean I take it upon myself to determine what stays or goes.....it just sometimes appears that way when a dozen or two emails all go out at once.

Actually....the number of times one moderator's opinion is overridden and a work is accepted [or rejected] is quite edifying.  It shows that no-one is a force unto themselves.

If a work [of whatever sort] is rejected it's because of one of two reasons [or both]...it is either so poorly executed it 'should' be an embarassment to its uploader or it is of dubious copyright issue.

When images used are 'cut' out of something undetermined and re-used as 'own work' it cannot be accepted simply as fan-art, fair-use or 'value-adding' to an existing image as its source is unknown.

As much as is humanly possible, considering there are 16.7 million distinguishable colours, it is not appropriate to flood an upload section with each and every colour variation of the exact same image.  In such instances include them all in one collective archive.

IF said image were significantly of high standard/quality then perhaps that 'rule' would be waived, however, that does not apply here.

It's been suggested [to you] in the past that a self-imposed 'moderation' process prior to upload would 'improve the breed'.  Nothing is to be gained by flooding any site with "least favorites".

Wincustomize.com is not intended as a 'bit-bucket'....it's intention is to be a respected, quality skinning site/community.

The trick is for everyone to respect that and help, not hinder....

I knew Jafo was gonna get in trouble sooner or later. tsk, tsk, tsk... shame on you Jafo

lMG0D5552666, all mods here try their hardest to perform the task they have been entrusted with. I had the pleasure (and displeasure) to deal with a few of the mods here at WC, probably Jafo is the one I have dealt the most with, and whether we see things eye-to-eye or we stand on opposite side of the issues, one thing is for sure, he always gives you a honest and fair opinion. You might want to pay more attention to his words they might help you down the road.

A_67: spot on mate! In fact, all admins/wizops does their outmost to give a fair and honest opinion in all cases.

We arent just evil people trying to hamper any and all in getting their work(s) submitted

MillaMeter: All rejection notes are "tagged" with the admins 'signature'.
