Question about ratings

Saturday, November 20, 2004 by computerdummy5 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Even though I shelled out 70 us dollars to stardock over the last several monthes-because I"m not a registered user of the site I am not allowed to rate skins[yuk]but my question is I have several desktopx themes submitted and I seem to get my fair share of wonderfully nice comments and more than original rating[more than one] how can I see what the rating numbers are that I am getting. To be more blunt if some one comments that they give it an 8 and I started with a 6 and still I"m stuck with a 6 what gives Comments appreciated

If you're a Level 4 user (Subscriber), you can rate skins, and see how many people rated a skin. Only Admins and Moderators can see the details on those ratings, you and I will just see how many people rated. A lot of the times, people that leave "rated a 9" type of comment, do so because they don't have the ability to actually rate your skin.

If you have purchased any product from Stardock, your user level should be high enough to let you rate and see the ratings. However, only admins are able to see the individuals ratings given by the members, you (we) can only see the average total of those ratings.
If someone states that they've granted an 8 rating to your design and it shows a 6, that means that there were other scores given to that design that might be lower and the average total will be a 6

Then you should make sure your account is cross-referenced (find it under 'Edit Account'), if that doesn't work, you should email sales@stardock [[email protected]]. They would clear up any confusion or fix any problems you have.

What no admins here to clarify this And what about this notion that folks that can"t rate leave nice comments and ratings and folks that can rate leave no comments but subpar ratings? Is the system really all that fair?Seems to me the mendoza line[the rating that lets everyone that comes to the site see your work] is a 7 and certain individuals rate you lower they could at least have the decency to offer an explanation and so help in the ability of a skinner to better his or her self.I for one think the system in place[and I"m sure the star rating system to follow] is not an effective tool-it leaves itself open to site selective censorship and all in the name of saveing bandwith-for which I still don"t understand that reasoning

Hus-again thanks for the response No,my account doesn"t need to be cross referanced-my info is the same across the board from the time I purchased my computer till now and I really don"t feel like I need to email stardock since I show as a level 4 user. Maybe they[stardock]should earn more of my 70 us dollars[besides the use of software-that I truely love] read this thread and act on it.

Hus on a lark I took your advice and went to edit account and then to cross referance and all I got was a email that linked me to email myself-what a FARCE!!! >

The cross-refference was made for those users that create an account with a different email addy than the one used to purchase a product. In such case the accounts need to 'mesh' in order for the site to recognize the user as a legit custumer and grant the propper user level, status and benefits.
If you have use the same email addy for all of your activities here in WC and SD, then you dont need to cross refference.
As far as not been able to rate or see the ratings, well keep in mind that the website is under a major change so there might be some glitches. Your best bet is to either email and admin or wait a bit until an admin comes across this thread and fix your problem.
There is no Farce involved here.

If you're a Level 4 user (Subscriber),

That definition is changing to Level 5 user (Subscriber) with the new site coming up (and the reason, I'm guessing some folks, like me, keep bouncing between Level 4 and Level 5 here). http://www2.wincustomize.com/resources.aspx?cmd=3 but basically if you haven't bought a subscription to WinCustomize, you can't rate other folks works. If you have bought a subscription, then contact T-Man (He's a busy dude with the new site going up).

Actually, any Stadock customer should be able to rate. If you are positive that you can't rate, you should indeed email Stardock or maybe even T-Man (the head programmer of the site). With the new site being actively developped, it's not impossible that some bugs may occur.

Check the About page for T-Man's email: https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=about

At any point did you email actually Stardock about it, or just randomly spew anger?
Bugs don't get fixed on assumptions, they get fixed by someone informing them of any issues like this.

My mistake paxx, I thought you had to be a subscriber or a journeyman to rate skins

If thats the case, then I have you beat by a few dollars more but I dont need to make those claims since I always contact the right persons before ranting on the message board.
Now it seems to me that a few people (my self included) have tried to help and guide you in the right direction to get your matter solved, yet you continue to blab about your expended money and farces on the site.
Well with this kind of attitude I doubt anyone will continue to aid you (my self included)

This is NOT a support forum. That is why Stardock have this email address: [email protected]

Maybe you should try that, like everyone else with a problem does. You managed to email ME for permission to use my wallpaper, so you DO know how to send one.
