I can't get my boot skins to work

ok I have downloaded a couple of boot skins and I can't seem to get them to work...whin I look in windows explorer the files are there but when I go to load them they don't seem ti be there...why is that???

yes I have installe bootskin but the ini file is there but when I open bootskin to import it it's like it vanishes

I am not sure what you mean... You don't have to edit or open any ini-files. Try to be a bit more specific. You are running Windows XP?

If you are using Windows XP SP2 (which I think you do), do the following. Run the BootSkin application, click on File/Import from file... Then close Bootskin app.
You will need to repeat this action once or twice (or as many times as needed) for the bootskin to show up in the preview window. Sometimes the Imported file doesn't appear in the preview window right away. (an issue with SP2 compatibility) Consider this as my opinion.

FilkoSE what I am not getting is that when I try to import there is nothing there to import the folder is empty

Koasati gave you the answer to your problem above. You need to do the following:

| The Solution: Step 1. File extension must not be hidden. If you're unsure what that means, open Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab > "Hide extensions for known file types" should be un-checked. Step 2. Right-click the file and select Rename. Change the zip part of the name to the proper extension. Example skin1.zip = skin1.wba (for a WindowBlind skin) If you get a warning about changing the extention, click OK Step 3. Double-click the renamed file. From what others have said, after a while, Windows will stop renaming the files when you download them. Below is a list of the most common formats we hear complaints about....... if anyone wants to add to the list, feel free. Be aware that skins, and themes are sometimes uploaded in the zip format for various reasons...... always check the zip, before you rename. DesktopX Themes = .dxtheme DesktopX Objects = .dxpack WindowBlinds = .wba LogonStudio = .logonxp BootSkin = .bootskin CursorXP = .CurXPTheme IconPackager = .ip I've tried to make this as easy to understand as possible..... I thank all of you that have been patient with me.....whe I downloaded the skins I didn't save them I extracted them...so I tried again and renamed the zip file and it worked better...TY all yall saved me alot of Tylenol...lol

Whaen BootSkin is installed, just double-click on the downloaded bootskins.
