Object Dock Plus - Help customizing

Tuesday, October 12, 2004 by Just4Jane | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I downloaded the OD+ several days ago and had a good bit of trouble understanding, but a lot of you out there sent some great advice. I am asking again! I do not see where I can change the tab color unless I use a collection which is color set. If I select a color under "tab" it will change the tab color but not the surrounding areas (of tabs; changes the icon background) that borders it. Also, is there no place to change the tab labels' color? Most are either white or black. One last think. I would like to have the area around the tabs and icons "clear" or transparent. I do not see where you can change the tab version like you can the plain OD verison. I want the advantage of the flyouts, so I guess the tab version is bet. I found one style on the WC site which was clear, but it does not work well. When I right click to add an entry, it does not show any of OD selections. It shows a menu as if you were right clicking somewhere on the desktop. Any suggestions to help me get the "clear" cleared up!!!

Hiya Jane, the majority of stuff you are talking about is accomplished, not thru the program itself, but thru graphics. If you are savy with a graphics program, you can make your own backgrounds and tabs, there's a skinning readme file in your backgrounds folder.

As for changing the color of the font on the tabs, that's easy.

1. Open the folder containing the skin background you want to change the font color of.
2. In this folder is a background.ini file. Click on it and it should open up in notepad.
3. You will see two lines Text Color = and ShadowColor = with a bunch of numbers, which are the RGB values of colors...for example

TextColor = 255 255 255
ShadowColor = 0 0 0

Gives you white text with a black shadow.

Hope this helps

Oh yeah that skin out there that is "clear" is a problem unless you can click on the text. All skins need some "substance" to work correctly. You might want to try one of my Aero Tabbed skins...they're pretty translucent shameless self-promotion

Thanks, Essencay. I will try this shortly. It sounds good. Your Aero is one I really like, and will most likely use it the most! Great work!
