ObjectDock Plus 1.04 was the official RELEASE. When you bought the beta, it was version 1.02. The current beta is 1.04a.

Most programs start as a beta and then have the Official release that is later improved with more betas and then another offical release. Such is the case with Internet Explorer. I.E. 6 started out as a beta. So did, I.E. 5. As I.E. 5 improved, it added extra functionality as I.E. 6 beta which was fully released in the offical I.E.6 version. As new technology is incorporated, you will see I.E. 7 beta, and then a full release. It is the same with most programs, and Object Dock Plus or the standard versions are no different.

The reason beta programs are released are for testing reasons. Every computer has a different configuration. The only way the bugs can be detected and fixed is to release the beta for testing purposes to the general public with all their different computer configuations. Some people will have no problems with a beta, other people may have problems/bugs and this way the bugs can be indentified and fixed for an official release which is hoped to be bug free. But, with all the different computer configurations this is rarely the case. This is why software development is an ongoing process.

uncheck show pre-release versions. to show only released version. If the version number of the installed OD+ is higher than the latest released version number, you may have to uninstall OD+ to get the latest released version number to show.

Night Train means uncheck .. Show pre release versions. 1.04h(.002 is the latest beta. 1.04a.006 is the latest release.

Errr...I'm a little slow around here...that version I posted previously is the latest stable released verison. The version you listed is the latest Beta version, which has stuff disabled in it by the developer to sort out some of the crashes some people are having.

That's where i wanted to go : in fact the relaesed version was not "really" stable, so in fact, all the OB+ versions are betas versions (as all the Stardock softs ...)

That would be OD+, not OB+.... and you can't get what doesn't exist. Seems you consistantly have problem will all of Stardock's apps......... one has to wonder what's so different about your setup that nothing works for you.

if you think about it .. as software evolves things change .. usually for the better .. so in essence all software is "beta".... when the perfect software is created that never needs updateing\ patching\etc...it will be the first true non beta software ....
