why must we restart the system

Monday, September 27, 2004 by werewolf | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have WB unloaded, no dx widgets, no od, basically nothing running exept the explorer process. Why do I need to reboot? What else do I have to turn off so that I don't have to do this anymore?

Thanks

More memory is always a good thing!
You need at least 512 megs of RAM just to run Windows XP efficiently, never mind the programs you have installed.
Installing more RAM is the single most important move you could make to improve the performance of your current configuration.

My old computer have a insane overkill of RAM. It has 1.5 GB ram.

I had a great deal with 512 mb sticks ( 50 bucks each ) then.

My laptop ( still in shop ) has 1 GB ram.

Good for you XX..
there is no such thing as too much RAM in my opinion.
If you can afford to add it, you will never regret doing so!

I guess that is why my sisters computer (other than spyware) is running so slow. she has 128 RAM. If she wasn't moving out (she is not taking her computer) I would buy more RAM for her.

Guess I'll just buy it for myself.

Those things better just pop in or I'll be mad!!!

Thanks for the explanation PJ. As I read it I had one of those DUH! moments. Of course there would still be the same number of handles. I just wasn't really aware of the "handle situation" until I read that article.

Don't you know, Mr. Joeknowledge? Maybe you should change that to Mr. JoeNewbie" J/K, just having a little fun with you.

Yes, they just pop in, but make sure you get the right type. Its best to ask you computer manufacturer the exact type of Ram you need and the amount of Ram that your System can handle. I mean, my old system could only handle 384MB of Ram, so it would be senseless buying 512MB chips.
There is SDRam, DDR SDram, EDO SDRam, And so many other types that I can't even remember the names of them all. There are different speeds of the Ram too.
