Monday, September 20, 2004 by SlowCoder | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Am I the only one who is experiencing a big slowdown on the Stardock/WinCustomize websites ? For about a week now, loading pages/pictures takes ages Nothing else changed on my computer or in browsing other sites

it is due to the reason that you are at visitors level (on server 1) which is facing havy loads. Subsribers are transferred to 2nd Server which it far more powerful than the first one so try to become a subscriber to enjoy a full throtle speed plus many other benefits. The subscription cost on 19.95US$ for two years.

and if you are subscriber cross reference your account with Stardock

JNXT is a level 4 subscriber.

I don't know why you are experiencing a slowdown, JNXT. Everything is speedy here.

Theres some major stuff being worked on in the background on WinC. We're lining up for a massive update, so file movements and such, to accomodated this shift, may be affecting traffic.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reactions. No, there's no ISP problem (unless WinCustomize and Stardock are the only sites they're 'blocking', and they shouldn't do that ). I have a nice connection (2240 Kbit/s) and it works fine for almost everything.

Now for example when I view the NextStart Skins and Themes category in the Stardock Cantral browser it tells me it will download 214 kB, but this takes up about three minutes. When I click a preview I sometimes have to wait 4 minutes or more.

The strange thing is: it didn't use to be like that. Also when I browse from 'plain' IE, the sites appear much slower than, say, ten days ago.

Well perhaps it's temporary. Perhaps my mind got faster Thanks for checking anyway.
