WindowBlinds not skinning taskbar and start menu

Wednesday, September 15, 2004 by Jake7777 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The taskbar and start menu simply receive the color of the skin but stay in the windows classic look. Any suggestions on how to fix this. I'm running win xp sp2 and WB 4.3

Strange, happened to me too just after installing SP2. A computer reset somehow took care of that.

I am having the same problem. I didn't notice it right away, but it has worked since SP2

I have a similar problem when explorer quits. I get the rest of the windows skinned right but lose taskbar and startmenu skinning.
haven't yet figured out why though

I fixed it. The combination was amd 64 processor and sp2. SPS activates this service called DEP that if you turn off fixes the problem. I turned it off by editing the line in system properties, Advanced, startup and recovery that says multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=optin. Change optin to "alwaysoff" and restart.

Jake7777, I really wanted to thank you! I used your solution and it worked. I don't understand what it did, but I am happy.
