DsktopX widgets wont stay put

Sunday, September 12, 2004 by Castle | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The widgets on my desktop keep shifting all over the place. When I play an online game and quit back the my desktop, they shift downward. If I reboot my PC, they default to chaotic positions on the screen. Whats keeping them from staying put?

Gee....thanks for all the help
I got rid of the widgets shifting downward after exiting games problem by removing all the ATI driver "stuff" and loading microsofts ATI drivers from their update site. However.....
Nothing I can think of will keep widgets in place on my desktop. After a reboot/startupthey still cram up in the upper left part of the screen
Am I missing something here.....help anyone?

This isn't really a technical support site as far as I understand. There is a help board. Did you try there? Also I would suggest trying the Desktop X newsgroup (which gets pretty good community help), emailing Stardock support, and checking out the IRC channel.

I don't have any help for your problem, but maybe one of these places could be a little more helpful.

I think widgets are supposed to remember their location but in my case it doesnt seem to work. I have been adding scripted support for position remembering as a workaround for this issue on the widgets I have been making lately. Hopefully Stardock can implement this feature properly in a future update, until then it is up to the widget author's to provide a solution on a per-widget basis.

Tiggz -
Thanks for the info. I was thinking it was an obscure setting that I missed and would promptly feel like an idiot when that was pointed out.
btw - your works are absolutly the best! Thanks again.

My apologies for posting this here. In the future I'll look in the places you suggested.

No need to apologize at all. I was just mentioning places where I have had more luck getting help. Hope you can get the answers.
