Windowblinds + Transparency

Friday, September 10, 2004 by Jae Whun | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

With many new skinning apps. out there I notice that their are some that are capable of having transparency ie. AveIconBook. I would like to know if the future releases of Windoblinds will some what incorporate the technology or is this even possible in Windowblinds.

when using Windowblinds with XP or Win2k you can add a transparency button.

My latest slimT skin has one you can try it out here https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=1&SkinID=4216

Yeah I'm aware that you can make the entire window transparent, but what I was wondering is if it is possible to have partial part of the window transparent ie. border. I'm pretty sure you guys have seen the AveIconBook skin http://skins.wincustomize.com/Diafragma/screenshots/Transparent.jpg

In reading through the various product FAQs I believe I came across the information that WindowBlinds 4.x no longer has transparency functionality. They have moved it over to WindowFX. If I have read the FAQs incorrectly, please let me know.

Yeah, that was a great option. I miss it too. It was a very attractive function in windowblinds. It was one of those things that made me say "wow" immediately. I hope they bring it back, SOON!!!

You can always turn things off, if its a matter of what systems can handle.

also i believe the skins can handle transparancies .. mainly with the magic pink or useing png images .. look through the librarys at the vast amount of skins that are not square ... but the incorporation of transparancy through a whole skin has yet to be done.. i think i cant recall one that has all window borders semitransparent .. but i believe it is possible through good use of "magic pink or png's"...

HG, I think that makes it invisible...what they want is a translucent skin like in the Aero screenshots...

i believe that pixelated semi transparent skins are feesable .. just not easy to make .. for example: silver surfer where theres lines in the middle of empty space .. say you add a transparent pixel every other pixel to a skin wouldnt that make the skin semi transparent? it's been a while since iv messed with semi transparancys .. but i think it might be doable ..
