Starting ALL over.

Monday, August 30, 2004 by Chickie | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Last night, we had a severe t-storm which I didn't know. The power went out. My comp didn't start right when I turned it on. > I had restore Stardock & walls this morning. Restore files & etc. Ugh! > Somehow, I have to get blank CD disk & SAVE the walls. Getting the apps is no biggie. I miss the walls that I saved at pics folder. Just to let ya know, I'm annoyed today. Thanx for listening.

Don't feel bad Chickie. I just had to completely reformat twice in one week.

I know it is bad, but I always look at a data loss as kind of a catharsis.
It really hurts and sucks at first, but each time it happens you come back with a better way of labeling your files, tweaking your Box, and of course even though you hate to lose the old stuff, it always allows new stuff to become your favorites.
Keep a stiff upper lip and enjoy the fresh start. We never pull the bandaide off if we can avoid it, but sometimes it needs to be done.

dang computer... what I was trying to type was I know how it feels to loose what you really liked. As much as I have back-ups its never the up to date version.

So that face I made up there is the face I made when that happened to me... 3 times already!

I'm gaining the wallpapers & user icon thingys. I didn't have to download skins for the apps. They were saved in Programs files. I'm still annoyed & downloading walls. I see new walls & skins everyday. Once I'm caught up, I'll upload more screenshots here & other skin communities. So far, I got my desktop what I wanted. I'm almost CRIED while I downloading walls. It felt my soul was missing.
We had another t-storm today. It wasn't bad.

Mrs.Chickie are you sure you are not in my neck of the woods?
Wifey came and told me weather is looking VERY BAD, outside, and now it is ThunderBooming like all get out. Loud and Very Hard and Close ThunderBooming.
My 2 Dogs are running around Barking like mad, and My 12 Cats think the Dogs have lost their minds, for sure.

CygnusXII thinks Mrs.Chickie is whacking him for being Optimist.

Hi! I found the walls & icon thingys in my other folder. I looked for a certain wall - Gilly from Neopets. There she was - with other walls. I'm sooooooooooo relieved & happy to find them. I still had to replace apps.

Chickie..... no need to start a new thread for this info. Keep all related info in one thread please.

Easter Sunday > Electrical surge of some type (not even a storm) > CPU, modem, 4 hard drives, video card, network card, whatever else in there *except* memory FRIED. EVERYTHING lost.

Ok, that's *my* only sob story.

I would get a surge protector if I were you. A electric storm once fried my computer motherboard before I got one. Luckily, my system was still in warranty. I definitely turn off my computer anytime I see a surge or power fluctuations. It is best to unplug it totally, if they are bad. If you have a power switch on your surge protector, that should block surges getting to your computer if you turn that switch off. Whenever, I turn off my computer, I always turn off the power switch on my surge protector too. A large surge late in the night might still reach your computer. Especially, if lightning hits the electrical lines near you. It seems your loss wasn't too bad this time.

Oh, I have two surge protectors on my system. At one time, I had three.
