What do you disagree with? You eat your spaghetti with a gun?

A couple of links were given to gun themes early on, but the original poster may have bailed.

What a Diverse world we live in.

Just to clear something up. When I said I used a gun when encountering a bear I did NOT shoot the Bear. I shot the ground in front of me and it scared the bear off. However, that does not always work so I was ready for a follow up shot if required.

Chas, the world is MUCH bigger than your living room. The "WOODS" are about 100 feet from my house.

Yes there would be more buffalo without guns. However there would not be a United States either. Columbus would not have been able to settle on this big island and you would not live where you are now without them.

I have 7 guns and not one of them is an assault rifle. Two are hand guns. Two are only for shooting at the range. The rest are for hunting.

Yes they are meant to kill. That doesnt mean thats what you are required to do with them.

Chas (+anyone else), are you a vegetarian? Have you ever eaten tuna? They dont grow hamburger in plastic containers.
Hunting for food is no different.

I have nothing against hunting for food, nor do I have anything against having a riffle to defend yourself against bears and wolves when you live in an area where you may encounter one.

Nobody knows what life in America would have been like if we had shared the land with the natives instead of killing them.

A graphic of a gun is not going to lure a child or adult into harming another with a gun.
Further, there are several very nice gun related skins here on wc, you just have to look for them.
to further quote Larry the cable guy,
Guns don't kill people, people kill people?... no, husbands who come home early kill people!!!

mental instability will happen in every culture. mental instability will not be manifested via viewing photos or graphics that are firearms related.mental instability will show itself no matter what environment a person is in, including an environment that is all fluffy bunnies and sunny butterflies.

Chas: Your logic is seriously flawed.

Yeah, Kona and your skin sucks. No explanation as to why you felt that way. But, I guess you are entitled to your opinion. Which skin am I referring to? None, just drawing the analogy.

Chas, but some people do live in the woods.

This maybe true. But, I just believe that in those instances, we should try to live in harmony with the animals. The woods(Forests) are the only natural habitat the animals have. We don't need to live in the woods. But, humans do believe in killing everything in site with "guns" when they want something(I.E. Indians,Buffalo).

Yes, the topic was gun themes. And the discussions are all on topic. We are only discussing the pros and cons of gun themes and the believed or perceived ramifications.

Besides, while I recognise the necessity of a gun in certain circumstances (defend yourself, hunting when no other food is available), this whole thread is about a "gun theme"... Now why would somebody want a gun theme? Somebody who loves guns so much that he'd like to have one on his desktop. Now, that is beyond "necessity", it's just downright creepy, IMO.

U dont need a gun, read the Art of War.
I understand Katanas, they represent history and honnor, but guns thats just modern lazyness.

Wars should be fought in a LAN parties.

I say that we should pay taxes to help create one tough president. One who knows martial arts and is HUGE! Then if he want to go to war with another country, let him go and fight the other countries leader. Hand to Hand Combat.

I heard once that we should have a woman for president. Then when we break off relations with another country we would get half their money and all their cars

I've given this some thought before writing. I do not hunt, cannot bear the thought of injuring anything living and cannot stand the sight of blood. Still, I do believe that we have the right to bear arms and I have been known to shoot target myself. I truly wonder if the morbid obsession with guns as an instrument of death has more to do with our making them forbidden. Anyone who has observed an angry rebellious child knows that the surest way to et them to do something is to say that they dare not do it. For example, in the States we have a horrific problem with binge drinking among college students that is not commomly seen in cultures where children are exposed to a glass of wine with dinner as a commonplace thing such as Italy or Greece. If we took the mystery out of firearms they loose their "forbidden" appeal.
As to beauty, I recognize art when I see it (LOVE the Met)and just yesterday was at a gun library where there were some old pieces retailing for $13,000. They were intricately carved and quite beautiful. I have to admit that there is something "Mad TVish" about seeing some of the individuals in the library with guns, but wierd does not mean dangerous.
Thus ends Sapphira's soliloquy...

You don't see bears coming into our homes to kill us

Well, yes you do, we killed a bear that came into my dad-in-law's barn and killed one of his two goats, and dragged it off into the woods....that bear didn't make the round trip the second time it came back and he was tasty too There is a place and a reason for a gun, this whole thread is full of valid ones.

Anyway someone may very well want a gun theme for their desktop, because they are a gun collector, much like a car aficionado might want a car theme for theirs

There'd be a few more Indians [you know, Native Americans] too.

How many of the 500 Nations are left?

Cars are made for driving. Collecting guns is IMO a little weird. I know somebody who has a little colletion of shells. Personnaly I find that sick.

It really doesn't matter which side of the fence your on. One side will never convince the other that they are right. You either like them or you don't, you either want them or you don't.

In the USA....

Almost 42,000 people killed by cars in 2000 compared to 35,000 people killed by guns.

That was actually just a couple of quick stats I pulled off the internet. I'm sure there are years where the opposite are true. What actually surprised me was with the improvements made in vehicle safety, tougher drunk driving laws, seatbelt laws and enforcement of other traffic laws that that number is so comparably high. Which just leads me to believe that it's the actions, mental state and/or education of the car or gun owner that cause the majority of these deaths not the tools themselves.

lovesblessing will now add her opinion on the answer to the gun problem!

Okay, here's my idea to solve the gun problem....stop making the bullits! I think all gunpowder should only be used to make fireworks! Just think how pretty they are.....and with no bullits, the guns would become pointless! So you see, that would solve the gun problem and make lots more pretty fireworks for everyone to oooooh! and AAAAAAAhhhhh! over!

lovesblessing now ends her opinion on this question! Bye!
