help me out window blinds isn't working

i just downloaded window blinds and for some strange reason it gave me an erros message about something wrong with the shell? why is that? how can i fix that?

Going to be tough for anyone to help until you provide more info. Are you referring to the WindowBlinds program or a skin? Are you running a shell replacement? What OS are you running?

I am referring to the windowblinds program. I am using Windows XP pro edition. Evrytime I right click on the desktop, and properties, i try to change the appearnace. After a few seconds of graying out, it says that there is an error running a Dll as an App. wut does that mean? microsoft says that it is a problem with quicktime. I uninstalled quicktime, and it still acts up....suggestions anyone?

wuts styleXP? umm yeah i do belive i am behind a firewall, but it never happened before until about a month ago

Could be an attempt of an app trying to access the Internet. If you don't even know if you have a firewall, there's no use in talking about settings for it...

I see... but I must ask, has he tried simply uninstalling and reinstalling WB?

Yeah...that was my first guess, but those two errors he mentioned are at opposite ends of the spectrum....having said that, you could be right and the other problems are something else altogether...

Have you checked for viruses and spyware? Spyware can corrupt all sorts of things.

OK guys...lemme get something clear...i un-installed and re-installed window blinds. I haven't checked oout whether or not I have spyware or not. Wut is sp1? Umm...i have no firewall instaqlled on my system...

Have you ever run Windows Update?
BTW you have a firewall installed....XP comes with a very basic firewall for network connections.

You need to answer these questions. StyleXP will change your shell. In fact, it hacks your system files. Windowblinds does not do this. If you have other GUI programs installed, windowblinds may have discovered a system error as a result of other GUI programs.

Download and install Spybot search and destroy as a starting point.http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
If you have installed any freeware programs that show anything "Gator", you may have a big spyware problem. If you have trouble even downloading Spybot, this is also a clue to spyware contaminating your system.
When you install any freeware, like certain screensavers, date calendars, etc., you must read and understand all the disclaimers during the installation. You may be allowing spyware to run on your system. If you ever read anything about "Gator", A-B-O-R-T the installation.
Anytime you are one the net, you must have a good firewall, virus protection, and a good spyware program.
1)I would uninstall any other GUI programs. StyleXP will change your shell. Windowblinds will not change your shell.
2)I would also run Spybot search and destroy. Then, I would install the SP1 update for WindowsXP Pro. This may fix your problem. You can then try installing windowblinds.
If windowblinds still gives you an error, this likely means that your system is trash. I would then, backup important files, wipe the hard drive, freshly install WindowsXP, install SP1 from Windows update, get a good firewall, virus protection, and install spybot. Then, you can install windowblinds without problems. Windowblinds and the programs from Stardock(Iconpackager,DesktopX,LogonStudio,ObjectDock) will not hack your shell. The rest of the GUI programs may leave you where you are now.
If you don't want to set your system right as described above, I would not try to install windowblinds, sense it is giving you these warnings. No sense in blaming windowblinds. Good Luck.
