WinCustomize's 10 most memorable moments of the past year.

Thursday, July 22, 2004 by Matchbook | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

What's everyones greatest/fondest/most memorable experiences here? [I picked a year because I'm coming up to my 1-year anniv. here.] I'll have to ponder mine, but surely others have really cool landmarks perhaps, or achieved some goals etc..

Err.. lemme think, I suppose it's MY turn.

In no particular order.

1. Finding WC [ok, cheesy, but hey, WC is a nice receptacle for a reject like me]
2. Lauging at Nuvem's idea of a "minimal wall pack" because any ONE of the walls IN that pack are 150% MORE complex than anything I've ever tackled lol..
3. Having 3,777 debates with Jafo - because it's helped me "reform" somewhat. Thanks Jafo baby!
4. Getting an e-mail from BoXXi one day saying I was promoted!
5. Hitting the 50,000 download mark. Ok... that may not seem like much to master skinners here, but I remember doing a little happy-jig when I hit 5,000 so adding ANOTHER zero made me act like a kid in a candy store.
6. Watching people at WC bind together last X-mas for the subscription drive - was pleasant to see a "community effort" at work and reassuring to know it still exists, somewhere.
7. Discovering the WC message boards because it gives fools like me means to kill 15-20 minutes when I'm dead-bored at any given time on any given day. [which happens most times and most days]
8. errr, ya know? I'll have to ponder the remaining two because I just ran out.. ack!

Ok.. I feel it's important for ME to mention that seeing Green Armani back in the galleries makes me happy because I wondered for ages what happened to him. Nice to see him back! I guess that's my number 8.

As far as a thanks for starting this thread none necessary..

I was just curious to see what others had been "up to" in the last year - things they remember well - things they're most proud of, etc!

Every day on WC is a memorable moment on its own - a new day, a new drama

CerebroJD: "Admin Jafo, what sayeth though to the mighty tongue of Latin4567?"

Jafo: "I sayeth that it shall be cut out, and that though shouldst silence thine owm"

CerebroJD: "Have mercy, fairest Jafo. Is't not true that he be'eth only a noob?"

Jafo: "I have spoken my part, and the deed shall be done. CerebroJD, methinks you doth protest too much."

Hows that for todays drama?

No 100,000 downloads, no promotions, No admin hat, just one simple thing has thrilled me beyond what I ever expected at WC.

My wall passed moderation!

I love hanging out here and will always be WC's and Stardocks biggest advocate. Community, skins, kindness...it's all here, all you have to do is just say "Hi."

Was this WC's 10 most memorable moments or everyones 10 most memorable moments at WC?

If its WC's, I'd think its was when they went online and when they went over 1,000,000 members.

If its our most memorable moments, I'd have to say meeting the people, a lot of whom I call friends now. Giving and recieving help.

Well, I suppose I intended for the question to mean both... What people consider to be WC's greatest accomplishment but in reality when it comes down to it - it's the PEOPLE on WC [admins skinners, the browsers] that make WC work so I suppose people can just answer how they best see fit.

I forgot to mention the help I got from BoXXi and Shameless with a DX problem my first week using OD. Only later did I find out how influential they are around here. So thanks again BOXXi and Shameless Designs! I could have very easily given up on this place had it not been for the the helpful advice.
Another memorable time was when I nearly killed my system with a bad Litestep install. Thanks to Jafo there. The advice I got here was a lot more helpful than anything I got at Litestep.net
