I've been trying to save pics in photoshop to 4bit bmp, but it dosen't give me the option to do so?
I indexed the pic & all that which brings up 16 colors but I still can't save it to 4bit bmp? Any suggestions on how to work around this?

What steps are you taking to try to save your image? It might help us diagnose the problem.

For instance, just now I did:

- Image > Mode > Indexed Color
- Typed in 16 in the "Colors" box
- File > Save as
- Choose BMP format
- Clicked the 4-bit radio box

and it saved as a 4-bit image. If this is for a bootscreen, I don't know if this method will work. I've read that even though it's a 4-bit image, boots are rather picky about what image they will accept. Don't quote me on that though, since I don't do boots.

Thank you for your input. Yes, it's a bootskin and when I tried to save it threw the same steps as you, all other options are grayed out except for 8-bit?
