Folder is empty? HELP!
Sunday, July 18, 2004 by IllNevadie | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I am new here...
Ummm...
I am having trouble downloading skins for Windowblinds.
Before, I would download, and when it had finished, a popup notification would tell me that a skin had been added.
I would go to my control panel, display, and there it was.
Now, I go to control panel, display, and it is not there with the others.
I go looking for it, and when I fine the folder in the Objectdesktop:Windowblinds file, it has a folder listed, but it tells me Folder is empty!
So, where did the information go that I spent 5 minutes waiting for it to download.
I have no idea what changes I might have made on my computer that would cause this...
Any ideas?

Another thing to try is to right-click 'Download' and 'save target as'. When the download has finished just double-click the .wba file and it should install.

I have had stardock apps for a while.
I believe I have the latest version.
It is happening with all the skins.
I am going to start trying all the suggestions tonight.
We shall see...
You guys are great to help me out!

When you find the empty folder, does it have a file size?  Have you changed either your firewall, anti-virus program, or ISP protocol lately?
Are you using Stardock Central?

Sometimes, you can still install skins from the program control window, when the control panel option doesn't work right. Click windowblinds in the appearance tab and try to load the skin directly from the program itself.

Goodmorphing- Does it have a file size?...
YES, it does show a file size...that's one thing that confuses me...it thinks it has something too!
Have I change firewall, anti-virus etc...
I don't know if I have changed anything...it is possible.
I only know enough about computers to mess things up, but I don't know enough to fix them.
Stardock Central?
Who dat?
I might very well have to e-mail support, but I am going to try to figuer it out first...determination born of aggravation!
Fuzzy Logic- Have I looked for the file elsewhere?...
Yes, I have looked several places, but have had no luck...
I looked in the most obvious places, but maybe I should look in some not so obvious places...
I will keep trying...
Thanks to everybody for the help...I will try one thing after the other until I get it, then we can all be happy!lol

So the folder is in the right place and it has a file size.  Is the file size the same as the skin?  It sounds kind of like the file is getting renamed on download.
I looked for *empty folder* on google and the information didn't seem appropriate, so I didn't copy it for you.  But it was something about the folder getting renamed and the extension.  Have you clicked into the folder, to see if there is a second folder inside (I imagine you have).

I was going to ask if I should just uninstall and reinstall and see if that would work.
I think my whatchamacallits does say C:\Program Files\Object Desktop...
I hate to have to redo everything, but if I can't download skins, it doesn't matter anyway right?
Ok, I will try that...I will just uninstall and reinstall and hope I don't mess things up anymore...
I will let everybody know what happens when I get done.
Thanks again everyone for your help.
It might be a few days before I get to it, so stay tuned!lol

I have come to the conclusion that I don't know what I am doing!
I downloaded StarDock Central...
I uninstalled what I had, and reinstalled it...
I still can't get skins to download...
They don't show up in the control panel:appearance tab...
How come?
I just don't get it...
I find the file under windowblinds, but it won't show up in control panel, so I can choose it...
I must be doing something wrong...
Any more suggestions?
I guess I should just bug stardock support...

Hello.  I am not sure what is  happening.    You are new here, to this forum, but you have had Stardock applications awhile, right?  Have you updated to the latest version?  Is it  happening with all  skins, or one in particular?
