Hey. I found a free program.
It is called Http file sharing
You put file up on you computer to share with the people you want. You could set up usernames and passwords. And it free. This is what the authors says in his description.
"HTTP server designed for file transfer.
Very easy to use, just drag&drop your files in it.
It automatically copies in the clipboard the full url of the file, so you just have to paste in your preferred chat.
Virtual file system, bandwidth control and many more features.
Check the forum for what's new. "
Well what do you got to loose here is the website I recomend using the alpha build.

Not bad, but still too raw and new for me. That will be great for firewalls since Http is usually allowed.

I'm sorry I didn't say this before but you could change the port instead of it being port 80 you could make it like port 11250 or whatever you whish

I don't think file sharing is illegal.....sharing copyrighted content (art, music, software, movies, etc.) without the artist's consent is.

programs like imesh kazaa and all those p2p proggies that FS are not legal (i think)

For sure, file-sharing programs themselves are 100% legal. If they were not legal, they would not be available on sites like download.com, etc. It's the trading of copyrighted stuff that is illegal, just like Essencay said...

I think some people misunderstood my post. It almost like an ftp server other then it takes files from you harddrive and instead of getting to your files via ftp you get them via http. It not a P2P network. I use it so I could get files from my friends house that are on my computer and if I edit any I would upload them back. It almost like ftp other then you have a webpage design feeling.

It really looks interesting for colabrative projects for sure. But again, security is an issue and I would have to really look into the possibilities of the security risks before actualy making use of it.
Ad-Watch ( Ad-Aware Pro ran at least once a week) is running full time, Spybot Search & Destroy is ran at least once a week, SBS&D Tea-Timer and Active Monitor is running full time, StartUpOrginizer 2.4 is running full time, TaskInfo2003 is running full time, System Mechanice Pro 4 cleans, compresses and repairs the registry upon bootup twice a week, Mcafee SpamKiller Pro monitors my email along with Norton and Outlook 2003 for spam and various trash, I also run through a NIS Pro 2004, Hardware - Wireless Firewall/Router/Gateway, Hardware - Firewall/Router/Gateway/NAT box, Secure Tunneling, and I do not have any virus problems, browser hijacks or spam flooding and I like it that way.
Some might call the above overkill, foolish, stupid, pointless and any number of things indicating they would not do it and that no one else should. But if anyone has ever noticed before, I never mention any problems on my systems from connecting to the net. The only time I have ever had a problem is when my sons decided they needed to turn things off so they could do things they shouldn't have been doing in the first place.
So if changing any of the configurations on my systems was needed, I wouldn't use it. For those who don't have an issue with that, then they would probably find it very useful for sure.

If it checked out security wise it is definitly a good option without a doubt

File sharing is legal....but only if the sharer has legal rights to the file's distribution.
A fee or not is irrelevant.
Specific example....I can share my Architectural drawings via P2P as ACAD files with others....but the recipient/s cannot....not unless I provide specific consent for them to do so.
Reason....I own copyright to my plans.
No-one else does. [not even the client/s for which they are prepared]...

well the whole internet is based on file sharing cause its basically copmuters communacating with each other sending and receivein data
