windows xp ie6 geforce mx2 athlon 2000 processor 512 ram
Please help
wobbly screen with lines going up it rather like when the vert hold goes on a tv.
Have done a virus scan, updated drivers, scan disk.
Please tell me whats wrong?

set to matching refresh rates?
deguas the monitor?
plug monitor into wall if plugged into psu at this time?
change boxes to a different outlet?

thanx folks.........ill definitely try the voltage thing before i consider a new monitor.
Anyone know why when I change my theme the taskbar and menu still have the previous theme? please

Try unloading Windowblinds and then run it again. In some rare instances, some skins "leave behind" traces. I think maybe it's just a difference in what is skinned and what is not skinned in different WB skins. I also think I'm getting in over my head.

My biggest prob, when I had an issue like that was, that I had my TV, next to my Monitor, and I was getting scan line interference, or bleed over or whatever. The Next time, it was Ginormous, magnets in my Theatre Speakers causing whackadoo behaviour, Next time was Strip light, Incandescent or what ever, had a bad ballast and made problems, last problem only happened every so often, cause determined to be cell phone setting ontop of Monitor, every time it sync'ed to the tower is caused a wavy line in my Monitor.

get a 19 inch ViewSonic G90, SamSung 95HB or some such. they are below $200.00 at most Electronics chain stores, Bestbuy, Circuit City, CompUSA and such.

Best to test your monitor with another machine at another location for an independent check.
IMO, the specs you quoted are insufficient data for a monitor recommendation. Much would depend on intended use, lighting conditions, space availability, et al.

Really sorry about the problems you had Cygnus. Will check the fans and see if I can borrow a monitor from a friend.
As to the monitors suggested well I live in the Uk and only have £300 to spend at most as hubby wont let me go any higher. Hes offered to sell his motorbike too, bless him.
He doesnt know a thing about computers but knows the pleasure I get with my online friends and with the themes etc.

oh i need it for web-gaming and changing my desktop themes every day as well as the usual stuff like e-mails and chatting to folks, and surfing the net

You will get more 'bang for your buck' with a CRT....forget LCDs for the forseeable future....as refresh rates and unsupported resolutions with them are the bane of the gamer...

17 inch CRT would be fine, even a certified reconditioned one with a warrenty could serve your purposes, really.
Just remember not to go up over 1280x1024 on resolutuin with it or you might have to plaster your face on the screen to see things in games
