6 is in fact the default rating for authors that are at a level that allowes them to bypass moderation, but the lowest rating needed for the general public (unregistered users) to see your work is 8

Hmmmm... thinking about this. If the lowest rating for general public viewing is 8, shouldnt the default rating for work that bypass moderation be 8 aswell?

I would kinda expect that if someone reaches journeyman or above that their work would be an 8 or better. Of course everyone has their moments of poor judgement.

WOM, that is what it says on the About page, but in reality is 8 and/or above.

i actually think that's a nice system.. all you have to do is register to see everything else.. and this way, people just passing by are exposed to the 'best' stuff, rating wise.

people, you all just need to vote more

I think the system is a little strange and I won't ellaborate because I don't want to get flamed. But, I've seen some skins by people friendly with certain people getting strangely high ratings and I don't think that's really appropriate. I mean if a person uses one color and bevels it and the bevels are pixelated too and submits it as a windowblind and gets a 8 rating, I think that sucks.

One person may rate a skin for pixellated bevels...another may rate for something else.

Don't be so judgemental....

dumb question of the day....what's a pixellated bevel?

Pixelated bevel=A bevel with no anti-aliasing around the edges, or very jagged. If you want to see great work at smoothing edges whenever possible, look at the A-quality work by The Skin Factory or Pixtudio. And when tga's are acceptable, pixelation shows lack of quality to me. Giving a 8 to those skins just seems bias. I'll probably never get my skins accepted now. Or, they'll sit in moderation forever like before. But, I speak my mind.

You certainly do chazUGC. You certainly do. Someone has to. I appreciate it. You often speak for me.

What would the downside be to making the ratings and the rater(?) visible to the author. Maybe it's been tried before. Dunno, just a thought.

What are you suggesting? All work is moderated fairly and on merit regardless of who the author is. To suggest otherwise is insulting to every moderator here.

Think more carefully before you speak again.
