Any ideas how to fix this?

For some reason when I logon to my MSN homepage the page now has a gap on the left side of the screen. MSN of course is clueless as to how to fix this. I have uninstalled MSN with no success in fixing it. I have even tried dragging the page over but that doesn't work. Below is a screenshot of the problem.

What skin are you using? For some reason most skins don't affect my yahoo browser but every now and then sone does and I have to stop using the skin to fix the problem, so it's probably the same way for the msn browser.

So far..tried uninstalling & reinstalling MSN...minimizing & maximizing...tried grabbing the screen and moving it over...tried adjusting the screen but that wasn't it either.
Not sure what the window screen clip is your talking about, so I have no idea. It's got me stumped and MSN is clueless...what a surpirse!

Oh...and Dwatson...I don't think it's a skin that's doing it...it only does this on the MSN logon page. If I click on the mail icon it straightens out, but if I minimize and maximize the window it's there again.

Are you using a DX theme? I had a similar problem and it was caused by the settings in the DX theme.

It might be a bug between the MSN skinning engine and the Windowblinds skinning engine. You can disable windowblinds and restart and then start you MSN homepage and see if the problem disappears. I had multiple skinning problems with the first edition of AOL v9.0 and windowblinds. Everything was later fixed in the optimized AOL v9.0. You might also try to exclude MSN from being skinned by windowblinds.

Giz - it looks like something 'reserved' Desktop space. wrote it to the registry and won't let go of it, even if you're not running it. It would have to be a bar of sorts (and not necessarily one of Stardock's), so start with them. Start everything like that that you have on your 'puter, particularly SysMetrix, one at a time and see if anything you have takes that space up or shows an enabled 'Reserve Space' option. If you in fact find one, then un-install it and see if it fixes it.

Yrag...that sounds like it could be a possibility. I did have a sysmetrix bar on here as well as the bar for UniverseMetal at different times. The thing is though, like I said, if I click on the mail icon on the MSN homepage it scoots it back over but then it comes back again if I would min-max the window. I'll go hunting for what you suggested and see what I can find.

here is your solution: start services.msc using the run link in your start menu type "services.msc" disable all stuff you dont want or need then open your registry (type regedit using run) and also open task manager ctrl alt delete. after, in the registry editor go into hkey local machine > software > microsoft > windows > current version > run and delete everything you dont use or need also do the same for hkey current user > software > microsoft > windows > current version > run and delete everything you dont need or want and after that go into your start menu under all programs startup and delete everything in there that you dont need or want finally end all the processes you can in task manager until your system HAS to reboot. the only other things that it could be after that would be a kernel problem (run windows in safe mode), driver problem (reinstall), virus, or you possibly not being able to cordinate the window.

Got it fixed!..here was the solution. I looked all over the place for something that could be place a sidebar or other app on the screen without my knowledge. Came up with nothing. Next I changed skins. First I went with the default WindowsXp theme to see what would happen and the gap was gone. So then I tried another skin I used before (Colony) and the gap was gone. Then I went back to the skin I was using when the gap appeared (UniverseMetal) and then gap was gone and seems to not be coming back at the moment. So I can only assume something became corrupt in the UniverseMetal skin.

It's doing it again, but it seems to be something in WindowBlinds. When I apply the Default Xp theme the gap goes away. Any ideas what it could be in WindowBlinds that would cause this?

Have you tried to maximize the screen and/or move it then resize it?
