Do cows sunburn???????

This is a strange question for the weekend, but do holstein cows sunburn ? I know white dogs do. I see a lot of the cows out in the sun here with no shade, and I was just wondering......

The answer could come down to definitions as some will say that only pigs get sunburn in the same way as humans. However this agricultural site says that yes, they most definitely do:-

I and fellow BBites are now dying to know what exactly you intend to do with this knowledge
a) go on to win the pub quiz
run around the field distributing parasols and sun protection
c) consider them slow-roasted and cover them with relish and a cob

Don't hold me to this, but I have been told by some fairly reliable sources, that the only animal besides humans that can sunburn are pigs.
If this is true then your cows are safe.

Although they may not sunburn, they could quite possibly tan. Look on this as one less step down the line in the boot/leather jacket making process.

But it was a question I really wished to know the answer too, as here in Az. there is very little shade, unless supplied by the farmer, which is not always the case!
