PixOs rip at...

Wednesday, June 9, 2004 by Chickie | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hi! I went to Themexp.org & saw this. http://themexp.org/preview.php?mid=55894&type=vs&view=date&page=1&cat=&name=PixOS+modified+by+streawkceur.zip Is this a rip or not? The VS skin looks like PixOs skin suite. Please look at the linky link. Thanx.

This is a heavily modified PixOS theme I found on the Internet. There's not much left from the original one.
I tried to imitate the marvellous look of the Media Center 10 PixOS skin.
It is part of my kiiroi/PixOS desktop, which consists of a LiteStep theme, my
modified PixOS WinXP theme, a modified Wallpaper (kiiroi) by Jens Karlsson, an
XP boot screen and an XP logon screen

Damn site popups at themexp. Evil, plain evil.

Thats what he left for a comment. I dunno if it is considered a rip or not. I m gonna sit back and see what others think.

Actually there is no mention of the original author (Pixtudio) as there is also no mention of permission granted for the use of graphics or modification of graphics from the original.

no permission was asked or permited. Thoug, the main window is showing a PixOS Media Center skin, done by Alexandrie.

hmmmmm.... I need to go through my papers and find the link and the contact for the copyright and trademark service I've joined and send it to you treetog...

basic one year fee ( $20.00 US ? ) and you send them the info and graphics and they do all the foot work on registering your stuff in the US. Which is a stickler on such things and pushy as hell, so it might add some weight to the hammer when push comes to shove.

I visited that site and I got a gator cookie request. I am very suspicious of anything from gator. Cookies can be harmless or they can be tracking cookies as well. I've heard that cookies can also grab personal information. Gator is notorious for spyware which will cripple ones computer. I therefore accept nothing from Gator.

Just wondering, why people, when they find a rip, come straight to the message board with a link instead of just emailing the original author or an admin.?

Maybe, you'll find the artist or admin more on message boards.

I have been around long enough to figure out that with treetog and pixtudio, there will always be another skin suite coming, its just a matter of how long.

It's more of a 'be aware' message. This gives the chance to all the artist that frequent the board to visit the site displaying the rip and make sure that their work is not there.
Not long ago someone posted a ripped work from an artist here and when we visited the site there were dozen of other artist's work ripped.
