Download Question.

Saturday, May 15, 2004 by Duane | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I must have changed something. Now when I download a WB Skin it don't self install I have to go back and do it myself. What did I turn off? I kinda liked doing the one click install.

Thanks
Duane

If by chance you are using Mozilla or Firefox you can configure this in the Options dialog, Downloads section.

To configure this in Windows Explorer:

1. open a folder
2. choose Tools > Options
3. choose the File Types tab
4. Scroll down the extensions section to see if there is an association for WBA
5. If not, click New
6. type WBA in as the Extension and click OK
7. Finally, the file needs to be associated with wbload.exe (should be located at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Windowblinds\wbload.exe - assuming WB was installed in the default location).

I'm sure this made absolute no sense and someone else will have a better way to explain it, but oh well, I gave it a shot.

This is exactly what I have been wondering myself! I just checked, and next to WBA, it says "wbload document"...so how do I change it to "wbload.exe"? Thanks for the info!

Does yours look at all like the following shot?:

The main question is, is it set too 'Open with: WindowBlinds'? If not, just click 'Change', if WindowBlinds is not in the 'Programs' list, simply Browse, for wbload.exe, which is usually installed (assuming it was left to its default) at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Windowblinds\wbload.exe

Your system registry probaly got messed up here

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT]

You should re-install WBA and DO-Not update defaults. This might fix the Class Definition error. (I Hope)

That'd be Pixxy, available at Pixtudio.com, well worth the price of admission (as always from the 2 masters).

Thanks for the help three_4me...I think it's fixed. My settings are the same as your image, but I clicked on the "Advanced" button, and checkmarked the Confirm open after download item. Now I'll need to test it out on a download from the library.

Confirm open after download

That should do it, I know because everytime I update WB, I have to go back and check it again to stop automatic installs.

Sorry for the double-post

I tested my theory by downloading a skin...clicked on Download link, got the Open or Save window, clicked on Open, and the skin was automatically installed from there. I used to be able to just click on Download, but this is close enough, only one extra click is no biggie for me. Thanks again for your guys' help!
