Font size & screen resolution

Is there a way to change a skin's font size? Several recently downloaded WB skins have fonts so small I have difficulty reading items in the menu bars, etc. I looked thru the skin's folder & saw no reference to a font. Going into control panel/display/appearance & changing a font there doesn't help.
Also, in OE, the bottom status bar doesn't show. If I drag the window up, then I lose the close/min/max but still can't see the status bar. My screen resolution is set at 800 x 600 - my preference.
Am I correct in thinking that in order to see my entire OE window, that I need to change my screen resolution size? Ironically, I have no problems in MyIE2 browser - I can "see" everything. I only have problems in OE.
Any help with changing font size or OE size problem would be appreciated. TIA

you can set a windowblind's font usin the windowblinds option window, through the display properties. open the WB options from the 'appearances' tab. i was pleasently suprised to find i could use PostScript fonts in my 'blinds.. (helvetica extended, oo yeah!).. as it was explained to me, you'll be able to use any font installed on your system because windows still manages the fonts even for windowblinds.

I also think I found out how to change the font size. In WB config/settings/user overrides, there is a place that starts out with:

Then there's a down menu. I chose: "I want to make fonts 20% larger". Since there was no 'ok' button to click, I exited out and whaddaya know! The menu bars (file, view, etc) are now readable.
I cannot change the font type (Tahoma, verdana, etc), but at least I can now change the size, and not worry about all my desktop icons being the size of Mt. Everest, like they were when I went into ctrl pnl/display/appearance.
Hopefully this post will help others who want to change font size within a given theme. Took me quite some time to figure this out.
Wish I had the $$$ for Skin Studio. I'd like to try my hand at creating WB themes. Ahhh well, maybe someday!

Design Caddy - I changed my font to Comic Sans (my favorite). It is nice to be able to get an alternate font and size by using WB config/settings/overrides. At least I can now see the words easier (at 20% increase in font size) and use Comic Sans for almost everything else.

Thanks, Event Horizon, for telling me about the free version of Skin Studio. I had just read that one needs this app to create Window Blinds, plus PSP which I am just getting started with. All I'm doing with PSP is creating fancy OE stationery.
Never delved enough into Skin Studio's info to realize there was a free version. I'll definitely download the freebie. Who knows? Maybe one day everyone will be seeing a skin by Dovelady8. Mmmm-don't hold your breath, tho, I am a slow learner!

I also couldn't see my status bar at the bottom of my OE screen - yet when I went into view/layout, it was checked. I went into WB config/user overrides, and changed the font size to 20% bigger, and the font itself to Comic Sans. The OE status bar could be seen, for a while. When I went back into OE last night to write emails, it had disappeared again. I switched to different themes, but still couldn't see OE's status bar. It was now an overall problem. Purely by accident, I clicked on the min/max button in upper right corner. Screen size is maximized by default. By clicking on the min/max button, the screen was now minimized and violà, I could now see my status bar! Conclusion? Because I increased the font size by 20%, the overall theme was now 20% larger to accomodate this new font size. Thus, I couldn't 'see' my status bar and now need to minimize the screen to see it. This post is basically for all those who may have had the same problem as I did. It took a while for me to figure this whole thing out, and if I can save someone else some grief, that's what it's all about! |

Wizop Koasati - After asking why my thread was deleted, I came back here to my original thread & saw your response. Please excuse my additional post asking where it went. In OE click 'View' then 'Layout' and then check 'Status Bar' in the 'Basic' section.
