Single click desktop icons?

Does anyone know if there is a way to single click desktop icons to open programs?

I don't know if this will work on the desktop but you can try it.

Open a folder and click tools you get folder options, look at click items as follows and click "single-click to open an item (point to )" I know it work with all the folders but not sure about the desktop.

That did work. Thanks, I thought it would only work for folders not desktop so I didn't even try.
