DX Running at 100% CPU?

Tuesday, April 20, 2004 by Stealth870 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Ok, I got DX 2.1 and I've been having a problem lately. Sometimes, at random times but it looks like it happens at the worst times , DX starts running and eating my CPU, making it go at 100% continuously. I always have to reload DX and it stops, but wil eventually start again at some point. Why?

depends on what objects you are running. try to find out what object is causing this by disabling one after another and see when this behaviour stops.

good ideas when when searching help on a message board:
- post your OS
- post the exact version number of the app you are using. maybe it´s a beta version.
- a little data on your hardware won´t hurt
- any related programs that could interfere with it? what does meter your CPU for example?

And of course in the case of DX, what specific theme are you running, and/or which specific objects?

Do you use email checker plugin? In my experence, that always causes 100% cpu spike evenally.

I have...

DX 2.1
Win XP Home
512 DDR RAM
1.6 Ghz

It seems to spike up whenever a CPU intensive app starts, it freezes the app and then stays on 100%. And I only use 3 objects (besides my 2 icons) one of which IS an email checker...

I think I''m in edit mode, and the 2 other objects are made by me, just mainly 2 objects that make some other objects visible when I click on em (like a menu type thing) Thought it looks like it was the mail checker, cuz DX stopped
