It has become apparent to me that I cannot post something on this site hoping for a real conversation...it seems that only people exist on here are the ones who want to insult someone, immature people, and/or kids. I thought this site had a higher standard, I appologize for expecting more out of its users. I am going back to programming, another programmer this site just lost because of it's inflexibility. I never once cussed, or made fun of anyone...I had a very decent opinion and conversation and then my original thread got locked...where are the open minds these days?

i'm done with this foolishness...go on an talk about me behind my back all you want, cause i'm not checking this message thread anymore. but for crying out, don't judge people who are obviously more knowledgable than you are about certain programs...it just makes you look stupid

i couldn´t find a fact proving your point. that AquaDock can use Y´z Docklets is correct, but that is because AquaDock is just a hack of Y´z Dock. that Apple Japan did not ban ObjectDock because it´s not close enough is not a fact but an assumption. the other things about AquaDock being "perfected" or using DirectX are nonsense.

maybe if you would repeat what is left of your "facts" it would help to prove your points.

A number of people tended to attack the harbinger.....

connor_roberts' 'facts' were/are not such....he mistakes 'opinion' for fact......Unfortunately a common malaise.

I am beset with two options....to close this thread as well to prevent additional chest-beating by the sublime and the ridiculous, or to remove Master roberts as the miscreant inciter there-of with scant regard for acceptable conduct.

The former is yet another 'communist' activity...the latter is just too easy.

Listen to moshi.....his history of YZDock is correct-weight.

Ignore much of the rest.

Just one rule to heed....

Well, I have read just about every comment on both threads, and to say the least. Bashing seems to be the big thing with WinCustomize of today. When someone post for a request, help, or just something new. You get maybe 1 or 2 smartArshe postings. Get a guy who bashes Stardock...whoa!!!! 70 responses in just a few hrs. I have so often wanted to ask a question or share things with this Message Board, but scared of the sarcasm to be followed. It just seems that WinCustomize has turned nothing more than a Lott full of comedians.

To the infamous Connor, I have used ObjectDock for awhile now, and I have never had a problem out of it. As far as the Y'z dock, I have never, nor had the desire to try, so I really can not compare the two.

....and maybe the only 1 or 2 responses you should of got from your original thread, AquaDock....No thanks, I like my ObjectDock a lot more, I don't need two programs that do the same thing. Thanks anyways.

This issue is pretty straight forward:

AquaDock is a pirated version of YZDock. It's that simple. This site won't support AquaDock anymore than it would support any other pirated piece of software.

As for which is better, that's the same discussion as YZDock vs. ObjectDock. Different people have different preferences.  I will say this - both AquaDock and ObjectDock are on Download.com.  And despite being highlighted by Download.com, AquaDock only got around 1/5th as many downloads as ObjectDock.  So whether the original poster likes it or not, ObjectDock is almost assuredly more popular. That doesn't prove it is better but it does certainly imply that ObjectDock isn't "crap".

Apple banned ObjectDock? The answer is that is isn't good enough for Apple to ban, at least not yet. That is a FACT, and why it isnt being removed by Apple, just simply because it is not a good emulation of the original

ObjectDock is free because we don't see a reason to charge for it.  If anything, it is more of a work in progress, and that is why the page for it specifically states that it is unsupported.  Apple doesn't have a problem with it because it doesn't (and never intended to) emulate the mac's bar.  If you want to run a computer that looks and acts like a Mac, buy a Mac.

I didn't read all the posts in this thread carefully, but as someone who is doing a lot of programming on docklets for both docks, I think I can say I know pretty much about both docks.

First let me make something clear:
Aqua-dock 1.0 = Y'zDock 0.83, so everything I say is also true for Aqua-dock.

Y'zDock does not use any of the functions available by the DirectX API. It only uses GDI and GDI+ functions (which is slower than GDI, but has some funky extra things).

Object Dock on the other hand does use one DirectX function (DirectDrawCreate) and also uses GDI+.

Y'zDock does have a magnification-effect that is closer to the OSX-dock effect than Object Dock, but when running animations [using a special docklet that does that], Y'zDock is a LOT slower than Object Dock. This is because Y'zDock uses one window to display the docklets/shortcuts/bg, where Object Dock uses several windows for docklets/shortcuts/bg.

Y'zDock uses less memory (yeah, that's true), because Y'zDocklets draw themselves on request, where as Object Dock docklets can set images, but don't have to redraw themselves.

It would appear to me that conner is not really concerned with learning the true nature of things from informed, knowledgeable individuals with experience.
His sole purpose here is to do nothing but cause conflict and start trouble.

I for one, recommend a final warning to him, pending permanent exile.
