ObjectDock Newbie Question - ICO or PNG?

hello all,
i notice a lot of ObjectDock icon sets come with both ICO and PNG versions.. it's often hard for me to tell the difference between the two. i was wondering which is more preferable to use. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

You'll get better performances, especially where the processor is concerned, if you use ICO's. PNG's need to be processed by your system, where ICO's are just handled natively by Windows. If youo have a lot of item in your dock, it can make a significant difference. But then again, if you have a state-of-the-art 4 GHz processor, you may not notice any difference.

I need to start using icon files. Although I don't notice anything until I use WinAmp mordern...

You get slightly better quality with Icons. because they have the lower resolutions included, and OD dose not have to resample them. However they are bigger in size and, Im not sure about this part, I would assume use a bit more memory.
I perfer to use Icons, but Im a Icon Author. And the nice thing about Icons is you can use them in anything that takes ICO.
Have fun with that.
