Icon trouble PLEASE HELP!

I'm having a problem with my icon packages. I have created extra icons that I would like to include in my packages, but when I create the icl file in Icon Developer (with extra icons) then create the package in Icon Packager, when I save the package it overrides the icl file I have already created (losing extra icons). I guess because I have not assigned all of them. If I change the icl file in Icon Developer after I create the package, then that screws up my already made package and I have to redo it and lose icons again. I have considered naming one icl file something different and including both in my zip but it makes the zip file too big. Does all that make sense? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it too large because the second icl contains all of the assigned icons in the icon package plus the additional unassigned icons? If that is the case, you could make the second icl contain only the additional unassigned icons. I'm suggesting this because I can't think of any other reason why the zip file would be too large.
Alternatively, you could make a second upload to the Icon Packager library of a zip that contains just the additional icons and call it MyTheme Bonus or something like that.
