LOCKED OUT!

i jus installed a new logon screen and a boot screen yesterday. i turn on my laptop this mornin and everytime it boots up it goes to the logon screen and nothing loads, i mean nothin not even the shut down button. all it shows is the piture, no user icons to login. everything seems to bootup right and jus when it up comes to the new logon screen nothign loads, its like I'm lockd out my own laptop... and now i cant even get in at all, SO PLS SOME ONE HELP ME QUICK!!!!!

I wonder if these people are having problems because their systems are corrupted with conflicting software or previous software that hacked system files? Because, I've never had such a problem. But, I don't use BootXP or StyleXP. And once you install them your system stability is questionable and won't improve unless you remove the hacked system files. Which means a full system re-install, or the lucky solution by tone fee. I wouldn't blame Stardock or windowblinds for this problem.

I'm with Chas....never used any other modification software except Stardock products and never run into any boot...logon problems

Not true. If you unistall Style XP it restores the original uxtheme.dll file and removes the hack. (I am NOT promoting Style XP BTW)
As for stability, I never have a problem with any Stardock program. Ever. Bootskin has always ran fine.

Not true. If you unistall Style XP it restores the original uxtheme.dll file and removes the hack. (I am NOT promoting Style XP BTW)

I had this problem a long while ago... Spent hours and hours and hours and hours trying to fix the problem and then, my father came in, and with a stroak of genious, dug up our old Windows 98 CD, and installed a second OS onto the computer! If something happens like that now, I can just boot up in Win 98 and fix it from there

And yeah.. it was that evil StyleXP jazz... It was like, "Just replace the existing login.gui located in C:\windows\..\ with the one of your choice!" Now I have two OS's on my computer!

I was definately a bit weary about changing my bootscreen after that little incident, but I've come to trust all things Stardock.

I was only using BootXP and StyleXP as examples. Both programs remove and change system files and if not properly uninstalled, it can cripple your system. And, if left installed, your system stability is questionable and conflicts with similar programs will likely result.
It's similar to running two virus scanner programs at the same time. Or, two firewall programs.
I actually tried Aston Desktop, BootXP and Alt Desk and I never will again. It was a nightmare. Once I uninstalled Aston Desktop, I had to completely recover my system. With BootXP, trying to figure out the dialogs in the program to restore my Boot.ini was another nightmare.

I own Aston, Alt-Desk, WinStep Full, HvD and ODnet and all have had problems in the past a couple of years ago but have since not given me one bit of trouble. StyleXP though is something else all together because of one base fact "None of it is origional software, it is all hack or frankly speaking stolen in my opinion"...
They could not come up with an origional idea beyond how to take someone elses hard work and attempt to make claims of how they are the first to save their lives.

I have an idea:
on whatever computer your using now search on Cnet for the program (can't remember the name) that lets you remotely acces peoples computers.
Once you'v downloaded it turn your laptop on and type your username and whatever else the program asks you for in. It just might let you in...

Is your computer an IBM?
if it is you can press the "Acess IBM" button right before the boot screen loads and then you will get a lot of options and one of them might just help you...

wait. hold on. simple solution.
grab an admin and find out what file it is that bootskin alters. the one with the correct wall paper paths and so on.
get in under safe mode. it has to be possible.. you can always get into a machine BEFORE windows, even if you have to go straight to dos. drag the file off of your external media and it where it belongs.
