How private is your information?

I put this here to prove a point. If this little sign can show you you’re IP and other information, then your information isn't as private as you might think.
Sure, I can't see the information about you it just shows me my own information. But every website you visit can, and most do, store this information in log files. This type of information is used for trending data. Web developers use it to get statistical information, so that they can better know what platforms to develop for. There are lots of other types of information that is obtainable also. Your screen resolution would be another type of information that is valuable to developers.
Jafo, or other admins, if you think that this is an inappropriate post, just Delete it. I feel that it is not, but I don't want to overstep my bounds.

bussie, It is just showing you your IP. It shows me my IP. It shows everyone there own IP.

You can also use an anonymous proxy. Then the IP that the web site see's is that of the proxy server. There are tons of sneaky things that people use.
The only IP that anyone sees from me, is that of the NAT. Every system behind my NAT looks the same to the outside network. This is true both at home and at work.
But again, what difference does it make if someone knows your IP? If you take the steps that you should, to protect your system, it shouldn't matter.

Considering your IP Address is the means with which all ethernet packets are tagged so communications are routed correctly, not having your ip address known on the net would tend to be a pretty boring time.
Known unless your coming through secure tunnel, firewall/gateway/router or spoofing...
