Help with weather objects

Friday, March 12, 2004 by Doug | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I love the many DX weather objects. I've yet to be able to get one to change the area code. The object will open a dialog asking for the new code, but after entry, no change is made. To make things worse, the next time I open the dialog, the new code is still there, but the object is not updated. Is there a known inconsistency affecting weather objects?

Thanks

Dose this happen with all weather objects or just one?

I've tried it with 9-10 different ones, trying to get the different style ones (not just the different skinned ones). Thanks for any help!

Program may be buggy, try to uninstall and then reinstall DX and run it again

Good ideas. I uninstalled DX, then re-installed the latext DX 2.10.a20. I also tried in Edit and User mode. I appreciate the suggestions, keep em coming!

Unload DX...Delete C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\User'Theme. Re-load DX...it will start as a Blank Theme. Load the weather object you want (nothing else) and see if it works.

That's 'cause the weather is always the same in Washington...rain. Rain today, Rain tomorrow, five day forecast...Rain

I was having the same problem hunted around a bit more, and discovered it was my firewall. If you're using one, try telling it that DesktopX can access the Internet see if that helps.
