Coloring Question

I've noticed there seems to be a difference between coloring on an LCD monitor and all other monitors. I thought maybe it was just my laptop screen but I tested it on my roommates and anothers monitor (both LCD) and they were all very close. However when I use my Trinitron monitor the color is significantly different, I screwed around with color setting on the monitor for awhile but couldn't get them to match up. I then check my CRT monitor and it was very close to the Trinitron. I've asked a few friends about it too and they confirmed my observation. ANYWAYS! what I'm getting at is which type of monitor is best to develop your colors for. It seems to me that LCDs are closer to the true color, but yeah... anyhow, thoughts?

Also go to the manufacturer's website...most have a driver and a color profile for their monitors....instead of using the standard that MS installs

also most monitors in the actual buttons on the front of the monitors. have a coloring section in the settings screen to choose preset and manually adjust the color preferences. try useing the different presets and see if theres one that is to your likeing ...

i tried them virtual buttons ,they werent all they were cracked up to be ...

Also, whenever you finish adjusting your display colors the way you want them, don't forget to adjust your colors in your graphics editing program... I recently had to go back and redo a ton of work on my WB because the gamma adjustment in PSP was out of whack. I didn't even realize it until I opened the skin on one of my other rigs.

Obviously, if you're doing client work, there's probably some standardised colour calibration, but for general skinning, your own monitor is what you see your work on most.
