If your blood pressure is 205/180 what should you do?

Tuesday, March 9, 2004 by joetheblow | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Because that was where mine was a few days ago.

The told me I almost died... I am just realizing how serious that was...

Anybody know someone who has high blood pressure? How do you eat? No salt? What about excises?

I still say get another Dr. If this guy did not advise you of the possible side effects of the medication he prescribed - he's lacking. I was on at least three types of BP tablets before we found one that was compatible with my system. And - was always advised of the possible side effects.(listen to Jinn Fizz & good morphing ) I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT EVERYBODY GET THEIR BP CHECKED ON A REGULAR BASIS. Sorry for shouting, but I've got kinda attached to everyone around here. BP is called the silent killer because you don't know if you have it or not unless you get yourself checked out. >

Goodmorphing shame on you!! Don't scare him!
Joe make sure you trust your doctor WITH YOUR LIFE. I've changed doctors before just because, as much as I loved them, they didn't work for me anymore. Don't stay with him just because you've always used him. And be sure though and tell your kidney doctor EVERYTHING. I always have to write things down before I go, you should too if you're having short term memory lapses.

Joe, I have nothing to add to this thread that others haven't already said, other than I am a person who is required to take a boatload of meds every day. One makes me really sick, but I save that one for weekends (it's a once a week drug), because these drugs have given me my life back, in spite of the side effects (dizziness, bone loss, etc.). I have a kind of arthritis, called spondyloarthropathy. I had to take 4 months medical leave a few years ago to get the meds adjusted. But, in spite of the side effects, I can walk now. As a matter of fact, I walk miles almost every day with my gigundo German Shepherd. And, I do it without a cane. Sure, I'm not perfect. I still limp. I still resort to pain meds from time to time. BUT I CAN WALK.

Moral of the story, take your meds, adjust to the side effects, find another med that works if you can't. Find a doc you can trust, cuz s/he's gonna be your best friend.

And, of course, it goes without saying, I sure wish you the absolute best. Good luck, bud. I'm pullin' for ya.

Joe....when I first saw your thread topic question my first thought 'answer' was....'get your funeral organised'.

I didn't mention that....preferring to wait till you'd got the level down and could crack a smile....

After posting this, I felt compelled to put up a new March Desktop, with a photo of me walking with mah big dawg. Click on my name to view, if you feel so inclined. As a matter of fact, I always find it interesting to see what others with whom we "converse" every day look like. I'm sure this may have been done before.

@ Jafo

Thanks for all the support everyone. I got my blood pressure monitor.
Now the only thing is when do I go back to work? I wanted to go back Monday but now I am a little afraid. Maybe I should wait until Wednesday. I wish my job wasn't so crazy and have so much pressure to preform.

goodmorphing, I didn't even know that page existed. I guess I should add to it, though I've only skinned two items, other than wallpaper (one isn't quite ready for public consuption yet). Thanks

Dabe, you've been through a lot. I hope all is well now and with such an adoring dog like that, I don't think you'll miss many walks.

MGiff, thanks for your kind thoughts. Yeah, I'm doing OK now. I just sent a photo of me to Koasati to post up on the SkinnerZ page. It's about two years old, but one of my favorites of me, though not really very high quality. I was kinda hanging onto my nice wooden cane. I got it on eBay, really nice wood, and truth is, I kind of miss having it to hang onto. I sure don't miss needing it, though.

just a thought for anyone that has bp that is hard to control even with medications- I was on four different meds for hbp and was still getting readings of 200/115. They found that one of my kidney arteries was 95percent blocked and causing the unstable pressure. I am just out of the hospital and hoping to get off some of the meds. Sometimes very high and erratic pressure is caused by something that can be fixed. Hope you are doing well now. I know what it's like to be scared by a high pressure.

hehe...

goodmorphing has no photograph...

really, really. A dispute with my family has left me separate from the lot of them. Little by little I am gathering my life back together. One day I will afford a camera... one day. In the mean time:

hehe... it even blushes.... i did it for a self portrait thread I started here once.

well that works as well as any photograph... you should send it to koasati to be posted

If they can accept blushing gifs then the floodgates will open to all sorts of interesting animated views of our friends...

Just send it.....and later you can update with a photo....
