Actually... about the ONLY way it could be viable is by reverse grid [which teams would likely manipulate anyway]

They made a mandatory 2 pit stop rule this year. Teams have to change tires twice. That handed the race to McLaren. These are the biggest F1 cars of all time and passing isn't easy in Monaco. Still I'd rather watch F1 then Indy car racing. All the car chassis are the same in Indy racing. They have a choice of two different engines. F1 is far more interesting than Indy car racing.

Paul do you do anymore with the race there?
No. This year [2025] was the 88th running of the Australian GrandPrix, and the 40th in the International F1 category.
I've therefore done 45 AGPs and all 40 Inter F1 AGPs, so it's time to retire after 50 years as a Race Official ...

Can you hear or is it or only read print?
Myself one of my best friends was from Indy loved the 500 and being raised on US Army Bases in the south US had more NASCAR fans than I could count.
Me, never was much into watching cars go round and round in circles or in the case of GP drive thru city streets. Then that is what I did for a living.
Drove trucks through city streets or on 500-mile round trips.
Unlike the Race Drivers, and yes, I know about the time trials for post position, I did those 5 days a week rain or shine or snow.
Yet, It would be sad if those events were not there for you that do wish to watch.

Grew up in Indiana, listened to the 500 on radio every year as a wee kid. Attended 2 races in person in the 70's; impressive events. Favorite era was the Granatelli years.

I attended the 500 twice in the early 80's. I went to 3 F1 races a couple years before going to the 500. I was fortunate that I was able to see Mario Andretti race the year he won the F1 championship.
The 500 is an event that anyone who loves racing should go to. With all that's going on there it's a spectacle you will remember. The thing that sticks in my mind about the 500 is that it's a gigantic party more than anything else. Some people I went with didn't even know who won or who the drivers were. I think that applied to a lot of people there. The F1 crowd seemed more focused on the race.

In the late 80s Australia hosted the first Nascar races ever outside the US. Needless to say I worked them all. I enjoyed the ease of reading the car numbers anywhere around the track. They were fairly popular here... but the owner of the circuit had a falling out with the Australian governing body for Motor Racing and it all died away.
The absurdity of it now is our world famous Touring/Group A/Supercar format has ended up identical to the Nascar road circuit format and Aussies are mostly too stupid to realize that the end of Aussie manufacture meant the end of genuine Australian racing. When the US Nascar was here we even had a category for Auscars that annoyed the crap out of the Yanks... as they were almost as quick...
