Photoshop Help request : Lens Flare Colorization

Heya, any of you guys know how to change the color of a lens flare render in photoshop on a transparent layer?
You can do it in photopaint but , no Photopaint at co-op
Any tips?

Simple solution....never use lens-flares.
Most of them will hit the cutting room floor here....

I use them but i just like the after effect different blur and distortion plugins have on them. I never use only one plugin i modify it ALOT. 
You cant render a lens flare on a transparent layer only way i know so far is to play with the layer mode (normal etc) I was just wondering if they was a way around it. But Jafo is right Do not use simple lens flares.

I was thinking the same thing......you know what is funny? I have never had a lens flare on one of my photos. The only ones that I ever see are from photoshop. How ironic is that?
However, I have seen them used before in a miniature form then distorted (as kind of a catch light effect) and they were OK.

If you're subtle, you can use them to add a bit of realism to a pic:

Problem with most people who use them are that they hit the button that says 'in your face', when adding one.

If you put many in different color in the same area with a distort filter they dont look like lens flare but give a nice unique watery light effect. The screen thing sounds good. Thats one photoshop Tip Down.

- create the lensflare on a black layer
- go to the channels-palette
- command-click on the red channel to load it as a ion
- shift + command-click on the green channel
- shift + command-click on the blue channel
you've now added r+g+b
- create a layer-mask (it should use the ion)
- apply the layer-mask (by throwing it away)
- choose Layer/Matting/Remove Black Matte.
[- set the layer to screen.]
this gives exactly the same effect as Photoshop would.
And like I said, to change color use your Adjustments.
- go to the channels-palette

You've obviously not been trying hard enough to get lens flare on real photos then
Personnaly, it's an "effect" I've played with a lot with 'real' photography - trying to use it to artistically add to the scene whilst not overwhelming the picture. Choice of lens etc can add variety too...
That said, the lens flare effect in Photoshop is a poor imitation

PixelCargo, Tiggz is right. Create a new layer above your picture, fill it with black and set the blending mode to screen. That way you can put your flare anywhere and do it in whatever color you want and the black doesn't show up.

By the way, Sput I agree with you. I've had some photos that would have been "snapshot" quality if not for the lens flare. Sometimes I do it intentionally but usually it's there when I develop. The only way I can recreate it perfectly in Photoshop is using Knoll Light Factory.

Image-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation and adjust it from there.
