~ Is it a bug in WB or in the skin?

Tuesday, March 2, 2004 by Nomad529 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

~ I've come across quite a few skins where the rolled up titlebar is screwy. It's always the left side of the bar. It looks like there is a chunk taken out of the lower part of the bar. Most recent examples are Thunderstorm and Zippo. I've seen it in quite a few skins and wondered if it was something with the skin or with WB. If it's something I can fix myself, please let me know what it is and how to fix it. If it's the skin and something I can't fix, I'd like to let the author know.

~ Thanks.

You know, come to think of it, I noticed that too. I just thought it was the skin I was testing. I haven't seen it on a lot of skins, though. I saw it on Zippo.

I just noticed that it doesn't seem to do it on every window. I notice it ALL the time in Explorer but it doesn't do it on the WB configuration window or some other apps. It's got me baffled. I'm pretty picky and it's caused me not to use some of my favorite skins. Grrrrr...after reviewing everything in SkinStudio I can't find any errors that would cause it. It's gotta be some type of bug in WB because we're talking about skins made by some of the BEST artists that I've noticed it on.

Internet Explorer isnt always friendly with WindowBlinds, and it takes some triks to get around it. Some things just arent fixable within current limitations. This may be one of them.

It's to do with the margins set for tiling the sides.
Sometimes they conflict with the rollup state if the bottom margin is quite large.
It can be fixed by placing a titlebutton over it with no function, and set only to show on rollup and having the missing part of the frame as it's graphic.

I had this problem with my Alien-Dial skin, but got it to work eventually without this glitch by tweaking the rolled up window size, and the various margins - but I can't remember what worked in the end. I know it's led to a fairly chunky roll-up window though, and it still has odd effects if you manually stretch the window smaller than the roll-up size.
