Trial of Aquarium Desktop?

Sunday, February 29, 2004 by Pfennig | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The download button at the "Aquarium Desktop" page leads to "Icon Packeger" trial version. Where can I download the correct application?

There is no trial presently (and apart from tagging the fish, I'm not really sure how we would go about making one). Used another template for that page and neglected to change the download links to remove the trial.

Adding several black rectangles on top of the scenery would be an option, maybe.

That might not help to convince anybody that everything works really as smoothly as it should.

They would be animated black rectangles.

Still, the general approach has some merit. What if the fish were all black? Still animated, etc. But all a single color against the background...

you could the color of the fish to 16. then you could see the movement and they wouldn't look that good.

you could do like they do with trial screensavers and add text to the background and annoying popups Though the idea of animated black rectangles kinda cracks me up

Maybe the animated rectangles could have two colors with different alpha-blend values. This should be sufficient for demonstration.

Actually, I would rather like to see a trial. The Aquarium Desktop certainly looks pretty, but I don't know how *useful* it will be. As in, will it be worth paying money for? I know a lot of hard work went into it at Stardock, but it's still easier to try before you buy. Other Stardock products subscribe to this theory, which is what sold Object Desktop in the first place.
