Sysmetrix crashes/problems

I really hope someone can help me with this. I am running sysmetrix 3.0 win 98 and every time i run sysmetrix it crashes within 2 minutes of running. The fonts on the clock, weather, meters, etc all seem to shift and blurr then everything halts. The only recourse is to end task. I can't produce the event manually, it seems to be random, but it always happens within the first 2 - 3 minutes of loading. I thought it might be the e-mail check but that wasn't it. Tried disabling e-mail, weather, and anything associated with tcp/ip, but it happens with every sysmetrix panel i download.

Please help.....

Look for the latest Visual Basic. I think its Visual Basic 6 for windows98. There might be other Visual Basics as well. I remember that microsoft didn't really offer them for windows updates unless you had some of them installed. There was a ZDNet Service that offered many updates that Microsoft did not. But, they stopped the service. It was a great source for files that Microsoft didn't offer. Visual Basic is needed for a lot of the newer programs. You might try checking the sysmetrix web site to see if there are different files that are required to run sysmetrix. I sort of remember that there were.

Wow, that was a pretty quick turn around. I thank you guys for the speedy replies. I did try a re-install with no success. I also updated my video drivers because i kept getting a GDI.exe invalid page fault when running desktopX also, with no success. I just dumped about 700 invalid entries in my registry, still no go. I will try the suggestions you offered and hopefuly return with good news. Thanx Again.

Well guys, nothing seems to work unfortunately. I tried the devbuild 3.01, same problem. I tried DL'ing all the vbrun files 100-600 and registered them, still the same. It's weird, it loads fine, runs for a few minutes, then BAM! All the fonts increase in size and it hangs the system. Funny thing is that when i bring up task manager, it says EXPLORER is not responding, but i end sysmetrix (which still shows as running normally) and everything runs fine again. Got me stumped. I did notice that about 500 days ago in this forum, someone had the exact same problem i'm having and xymantix responded to him in a private e-mail. Maybe i'll give hime a try because i really like this entire suite of programs and they wouldn't be complete without sysmetrix.
