Microsoft Reader

I recently downloaded Microsoft Reader, and converted my story from MS Word, to the format Microsoft Reader uses. I enjoy the program very much, but the feeling I get when reading my e-books aren't the same as reading actual books. I was wondering if there are any skins available, or any e-book readers that can convert MS Word documents to e-book that also have a feature where you can view the e-book reader as if it were an actual book,

microaoft has their own pdf ability/format through Office. you can create directly from word, excel, or whatever. still, cost$

#22 - Do you have a link to info about this? The license we have at work for MS products may well include us being able to do this and I've got a number of people who have asked about being able to do this.
We experimented with setting up Distiller on a Mac based web server at one point using a box and Distiller watching that folder to kick off the PDF creation...it worked and let us offer PDF creation for everyone for a while until we noticed that the license for Distiller didn't allow this!

I think there is a save as pdf or export as pdf. at least I think there is in office xp

sput, office XP SP1 i think. www.microsoft.com/office . should find all the info there. i just noticed it one day when they ped office on my computer.. suddenly, pdf toolbar and options. i still use Acrobat - but for just office stuff the microsoft utility should be a nice bonus.

Slight caveat is that it opens a sponsor page on your web browser each time you print using it. If you can live with that it's free though.
One alternative I have used is a postscript printer driver and ghostscript/ghostview to convert the resulting PS to a PDF file. This is genuinely free but more of a hassle to set up.

if you have a fast internet connection, you could just get OpenOffice, a free complete office suite. it allows you to export to PDF: http://www.openoffice.org/
for people interested in freeware, i recommend the PricelessWare list. i found that far more comfortable than those huge lists of 1000s of programs (where not even half of the links are working): http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/about2003PL.htm

Many thanks for all the links - I'll check them out when at work as it's for there I need it. If Office XP offers enough though, that will do as we're likely to be deploying that from the summer to all new machines, and probably as an upgrade the the current fleet.

There are tools to take Office docs directly though I understand...but I don't have a link to hand
You could always go down the Adobe route - it's not cheap though http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tryout.html
