W11 24H2 Update leaves 9 Gb of Undeletable Files
Windows Update Cache will need bug fix
Friday, October 11, 2024 by DrJBHL | Discussion: Personal Computing
It's not causing damage, and Windows Updates always leaves a cache, but this time there's no way to delete the contents which is a good deal larger than normal.
PCWorld hastens to reassure us that in and of itself, the large cache causes no problems, although with so many bugs, I don't know how they can make that claim, responsibly.
Anyway, those who have updated will have to wait for MS to solve this problem. Until then, you're out 9 Gb (8.63 Gb for sticklers) of disk space.

It's kind of like they throw a bunch of code at the wall and see what sticks!
"Why test it, let's release this and see what issues users report."

I've had the "We don't care" feeling about them as well. What's the strategy? Make money. Sell, sell, sell! They create megatons of e-waste, and expense uncaringly.

Thanks for the info. We shouldn’t be surprised by this! MS just can’t seem to get anything right these days. This is just another reason to delay the 24H2 update.
