Alternative to KK-Menu?

Saturday, February 7, 2004 by Stu L Tissimus | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I think it's absolutely preposterous that we have to pay to use KK-Menu . Are there any other docklets like it being developed?

I always thought it a bit strange that OD is free but kk isn't

Oh well!

To say it is silly to have to pay for kk menu while Object Dock is free is like saying that it is silly to have to pay for a full suite that includes Object Dock icons and backgrounds while Object Dock is free. The author of kk menu has the right to sell his docklet if he wishes.

I don't see anything wrong with someone selling a product that extends the functionality of a free program. You're not forced to buy it, so if you can't appreaciate the work that goes into KK-Menu, don't use it.
What is preposterous is this attitude that programmers should give everything away for free.
Perhaps you could write a program that rivals KK-Menu, and give it away. That'll teach 'em.
The fact that is no other docklet that does what kk does, causes me to suspect that it must be quite a bit of work to code.

kk-menu was only about $12 USD when I bought it. It is being sold for 9.99 Euro so the price you pay in USD depends on the exchange rate. A regular cedit card will work but there will be a small conversion fee in the charge.

You paid for ObjectDock? Or did you mean KK-Menu?

Okay, good point. I've kinda been obsessed with this idea for ages, I'm a Linux user who likes customizing Windows yoo.

Welp, thanks for the replies. Maybe I will look into getting KK-Menu.
