Bootskin disappeared

Morning,

After downloading, installing and importing Bootskins, all worked well except that I have to import two times per skin to have them show up in the selection window.

Before shutting down my machine last night I ran Scan Disk, XP Pro, and this morning none of the Bookskins would work, get the default Boot Screen in what ever color my Bootskin is in, Logon skins worked just fine.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Bookskins, so far Bookskins is working, but I still have to Import twice in order for the skins to show up in the selection window.

Unsure why you would need to import a skin twice, but if you select and apply any of the skins it should remain when booting, until that is you select and apply another skin (or delete that skin).

When importing (or double-clicking) a bootskin it will show in the list, BUT needs to be applied to enable that skin as boot default.

It appears that the first time I click import, the file is moved from my download folder. When I click import the second time, the chosen Boot Skin file shows up in the selection window. So far I haven't had any problems with the reinstall, but I haven't run Scan Disk again either.

If the bootskin is moved after it is applied, you could end up with the problem you described after the reboot. Don't know if this is the case for you or not, but thought I would mention it anyway.

The problem reoccurred, but Scan Disk isn't the cause. It seems that one or two of the skins are the problem, such as Computer City, it displays in the selection window and previews fine, but just won't run. With Computer City I get the Win default skin in shades of blue and gray, and the progress bar doesn't work at boot up. Win some, lose some.
