Bullets not working(growl)

Tuesday, February 3, 2004 by PurrBall | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hi,

Everywhere on my computer a bullet of any size looks like a division problem squished together. It would be so nice to see a real bullet again.....

The dragon is my bullets. The magician is the best person who can survive fixing them

*Meow??* what OS are you running? more specifically, do you have a start menu? if so, look for:

start menu -> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> character map

i am using MS Word 2000 on winXP pro here, and i have discovered the following things:

i made a list of three items in a new word document and turned them into bullets. then i was able to right click on the bullet list and go into "bullets and numbering"

from here by looking in both customize and the character map program that the default round bullet is a character from the "Symbol" font, and that it has character code 0xB7 (shown in the status bar of character map)

it shows up on row 8 in character map, about half way along, when you set the font to be "Symbol".

so, do you have the symbol font? are you using word? if yes to both, then lets see if you can manually insert this character into MS word. this will help to show what is going on.

as for dragons and magicians, feline hands dracoform the magic wand and gets dracoform to fly off and hide it somewhere safe.

Okay, I think I got it. It's hard to type with these mittens on. It is cold in my basement. I see the bullet on line 6, number 12 with the Symbol font. It says that i can change it, but not system wide. I use 98se with Word 97 SR-2. Yep, it is OxB7. Help file says that the Symbol font may be damamged. Maybe I should try re-installing it because every thime I change it, nothing happens. I'll re-install later,as I am feeling sick today. for the help, feline.

my best guess so far is either:
* the symbol font is sort of broken
* the MS Word settings have been changed so that it is using a different font to draw the bullet characters, and this font doesnt have a bullet character in it

Well, I went threw all of the cab's on my Win98 CD, and replaced the font, so now my (word)bullets are not squares and now bullets, but the rest of my system's (what are supposed to be) bullets are still all funky-wunky.

perhaps you could provide a couple of examples?

feline theorises that the bullets on the chocolate dispencer strapped to the side of the monitor now look like clones of kermit the frog

The bullets don't copy. What is a good screenshot program I could use?
