Feedback on rejection

Just a quick question. Is it reasonable to ask for feedback from the admins if a wallpaper submitted has been rejected?
The reason I ask is that I've been surprised by some of the submisions I've made recently being rejected when similar style/quality ones (IMHO) have been accepted earlier or subsequently.
It's strange when something that took very little effort and which I feel is barely acceptable is accepted when something which (I feel) has much more artistic merit is rejected.
There's probably a very good reason for it I'm sure, and it could be just that the person making the judgement doesn't like it for some reason - that would be fine, but I would like to know the reasons so that I can better understand what may be acceptable in future.
So, should I ask for such feedback, and should I expect a reply? ...and if I should, how should it be done?

BoXXi - ah! well I'm from the midlands originally, not quite as far north as you though. I moved here because I came on holiday to Cornwall and fell in love with the idea of living here

sput it'll be a good stress reliever to have something to mess with when you're at that point where you have to put work down and get your mind onto another track.

Very much so.
If I could make one point Sput .... I've found over time that what is really nice 'art' often is not a happy wall.
The same goes with skins of all types, there are some great skins by really talented people out there, but they are often unsuitable for day to day work.
I've a large number of Mobious' walls on disc that date back to the old '34 Something' days, the same goes for Dangeruss and Crumbutt WB skins, great work and way better than this Wombat could EVER turn out, but I find a simple WB skin and a pretty basic wall are my own choice as a 'daily driver'....
However, 10/10 for taking such a reasonable and constructive approach.

Thank you for this post. It has been most helpful! I am very new here and have made a few submissions with no success as of yet. I was beginning to get discouraged. I have learned much in this thread, specifically: Don't overdo it. Looking back, I can see additions I have made to "enhance" a submission (ie: the lens flare) that probably destroyed it. I certainly can understand the positions of the moderators not wanting to have to respond to every single new submission that is rejected or to be able to distinguish those users who truly want constructive advice from those who want to heap abuse. I will keep reading through these posts to learn and keep trying. I appreciate very much the time you take to at least review what I do submit.
