Does this look infected?

I've been using iTunes, and I've noticed that when I use my scroll wheel the music skips. To check things out I went to the Windows Task Manager (aka my good friend ctrl alt del), to see what was goin on when I noticed that the System Idle Process was using a whopping 80% of my cpu! Is this normal? My system is as follows:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
384 MB of Ram
nVidia GeForce4 MX440se
Windows XP SP1
Could it be a virus?

my buddy is an interactive developer on the other side of town.. his company does a lot of pharmecuitical stuff. he just had to build a website and edit a movie showing how to apply some kind of creme to kill toenail fungus. yummy. 
something i wouldn't want to stare at every day at work for a couple weeks.
