Ins boot files (Progress bar) location & size

Could one kind soul point me in the right direction in understanding the x and y of a progress bar ?
I have played around changing the values and ended up each time with a boot that "stalls" or doesn`t work..
To move this bar up, left, right or sideways. Make it longer or shorter. Make it fatter or thinner.And to reposition it elsewhere on the page.
I`ve got the hang of re-coloring it but was wondering if it can be made to flash up and down instead of left to right ?

The X is pixels across the screen Left to Right
The Y is pixels down the screen Top to Bottom
Length is the length of the Progress bar (Normally 120)
