Why does such a dignified web site has such a "modest" forum?!

Saturday, January 24, 2004 by dnagroove | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm sure this has come up in the past, and I'm sure some ideas were involved amongst yourselves... but why wasn't there anything done about it?!

The three links at the top of page, leading to the different forums, is all but self-explanatory. Shouldn't there be a forum-menu when click on "message board" (no 's', while there are more than one - to contribute to the self-explanatory issue)?! And what about an advanced search option? Shouldn't one of the biggest skinning web sites have a nice WYSIWYG editor for the forum messages, at least for us IE users?

These message boards could be a whole lot more active and rich with messages and visitors if they were presented and handled properly... with all due respect these forums look patched together just to fill a blank. So I ask again... why wasn't there anything done about it?

I like it......it's easier to follow and use than most forums. When you want to post a reply you don't jump to some other page, which leads me to forget what I was going to say. And when you open a post it, it opens where you left off reading from. And it's friendly

I like the messageboard set up here better than anywhere else. Its simple, friendly, and intelligent. All three are very important.

I think it's fine just the way it is.

It is the way it is because it works the way it is.

Added functionality does not necessarily imply a better experience.

less is more, simplicity is the key, confuse people and they don't post/reply/know whats going on

What Leo said

Stardock set the message boards up and we liked and appreciated them. Features were added here and there and we liked then and swear we will eventually get used to them.

I remember once when T-man removed the right hand stuff from the page and made the message board text boxes expand to fill the browser. Just that simple change had me mad for weeks!!

BTW thanks for putting my right hand stuff back T-Man!

I like this board the way it is too! Sometimes I go to other sites, click on the message board or forum link, and just give up straight away. some of them are so unnecessarily complex.
